Has anyone been on this combo? And if so, how did it work for you? My worst symptoms are cognitive, so that is what I am most concerned with, wondering if this is a good combo for people who have tried it? Thanks!

Never heard of it.

What did the doctor think? They ordered it I assume?

Note- in a few weeks some updated.. hot off the press info is going to be shared on new protocols for babesiosis.

If I were you I would wait to see them before doing all that at once. Save your money.

But do what your doctor says.. ok?

Yes, my LLMD has me on this combo - she says that the Mepron/Zith will target the babesia, and the Zith/Omnicef will target the lyme. Just wondering if anyone has done this combo, or even if anyone has done just the Zith/Omnicef, would like to hear about that.

I'm strictly on Omnicef and have noticed a great deal of difference. I hope it keeps it up.

Looks like a good combo. I was on something similar, but with Plaquenil added to it.... it makes the abx work better, is anti-malarial, and is a cyst-buster. You are going after two of the forms of the Lyme, the Plaquenil would go after the third.

Other than the Plaquenil, it's very similar to the combos that have worked well for me.

Thanks sixgoofykids, that is interesting about the plaquenil, what type of antibiotic is that? Would adding one more med to the mix be too much or is that done fairly often? I will definitely ask my doc about that at my next appointment.

Thanks!

My teenage son took this combo, but not all at the same time. When Doc J started treating him two years ago, I think it was with Azithromycin, then he added Mepron.

Later, Tinidazole followed by Plaquenil, Omnicef and Artemisinin. After a year and a half on this treatment regimen, my son tested negative for Babesiosis for the first time.

Please note: he was (and still is) also taking B-complex, fish oil, magnesium, selenium, iron-blend, Juice Plus antioxidants (fruit and vegetable), and Theralac probiotics.

Hope this helps. I'm not sure if Mepron was stopped before Omnicef was started (don't remember).

P.S. Plaquenil is not an antibiotic, but a different class of drug, possibly a macrolide. It is a cyst buster.

cs, Plaquenil is not an abx, it's an anti-malarial that is apparently good for inflammation. It helps the zith to work better, too.

I am currently on Mepron, Zith, Art, Plaquenil, and Cedax (similar to Omnicef), plus herbs/supps/probiotics.

So, yes, it's common to add. There is a relatively current thread on Plaquenil you might want to look at. My LLMD has had me on it for the past 15 months even though the other meds have changed around.

I'm on mepron, zith and was on omincef. I'm about to go on IV rocephin instead...and omnicef is the oral version of rocephin. So I will stay on basically the same combo, but one will be IV.

Mepron and zith have had me herxing HARD! Especially when I was at a higher dose of Mepron. I don't know if it has done much for me.

Hence, the decision to go with IV abx. Orals are not really doing the job.
