Hello again. I have Massage Therapy twice weekly and sometimes she will perform Lymph drainage on me.

My only question is, is this o.k.? Reason I ask is because the next day I feel REALLY FATIGUED and like crap! All my muscles feel extremely sore as if I were ran over by a frieght train.

Don't know if my liver is taxed or if Lyme is retaliating.

Also, does anyone else have over active bladder? I have had this really bad! I have had a couple of IVP's done already. My bladder has NOT dropped and I've been on Detral LA. Some other drug but can't remember.

I've also had a Eurodynamics test done. Can't seem to hold a lot of fluids before I have to empty it. They said my bladder was a little inflamed. I know because I saw it on the screen.

I did have to have a TVH / Oopherectomy / Apendectomy for Severe Edometreosis at the young age of 27 but was told again that my bladder has not dropped. So, I'm wondering if it is the Lyme.

I go in for another Eurodynamics tomorrow. Wondering if I should even go through with the torture....

Hi Nora,

I can only comment on the lymphatic drainage, but wish you luck on the bladder thing!

About the lymphatic work, do be sure that you drink plenty of water afterwards. If you are already drinking a lot, try increasing it some to see if that helps. I have two different massage therapists and I take my water bottle in to the appointments with me and start drinking as soon as the massages are over, and then on the way home, as long as my bladder will hold it! My massage therapists even offer a glass or bottle of water to be sure their clients have water to get home on.

My MT that specializes in lymph drainage works with a lot of lymies. She says some of them are super-sensitive and can only tolerate very light lymphatic work. I'm fortunate enough to be able to tolerate a fair amount and I do well afterwards. Does your MT work on your liver, and if not, would she? What does she say about the problems you have afterward?

Besides drinking water, try taking something to help mop up the toxins that are released from the muscles and lymphatic system so they are not reabsorbed through the digestive tract. Chlorella and activated charcoal (take this one well away from meds and supplements) are easily obtained online or in a health food store. If your digestive tract is sluggish, try adding some dietary fiber to keep things moving well.

Mild exercise is good--sorry, I don't know what you are able to do physically--even just going up and down stairs a couple of extra times, or a walk around the block as briskly as you can.

Finally, you might ask your MT if she can show you how to so some self-lymph massage. If you do some lymphatic work at home daily in between appointments, it might help the appointments feel less harsh.

Wishing you the best,
Nutmeg

Lymphatic drainage will make you feel bad, but it's GOOD for you! Gets the C*** out!!

Ask your urologist if you might have IC. Many here have it.... myself included.

Interstitial Cystitis .. It ended my teaching career.

Lymph drainage is very good, in my opinion.

I used to have it done by someone with a Lymph Star Pro machine (Dr. Cowden mentions this type of therapy in his article written by our Scott, the Better Health Guy). She is an hour and a half away now and I really miss my therapy.

It's a great form of detox.

It is important, as already mentioned, to drink a lot of water afterwards.

Thanks for the input. I try to drink more water.
Only thing is I have extremely OVER active bladder.

Which is due to ICS. Interstitual Cystitis. It's so bad that orall meds don't even help. I've been on three already. Only thing they do is dry my mouth out :-(

Urologist is having me consider Interstim so control the bladder spasms. Just not sure if I want to do that yet. That means I could never have any more MRI's done again.

Also with the stomache issues. Feeling full and nauseated all the time. I can't drink a lot of fluids without feeling sick to my stomache. I can't win. [Roll Eyes]

I'm hoping the Edoscope and Colonoscopy will give me some insight....but not counting on it.

I have an overactive bladder too, but nothing to the extent you described, so I can't think of anything to help. [Frown]

Is Lymph drainage part of a regular routine, or do you ask for it specifically?

What kind of massage do you get? I got a myofascial massage last week, to see if it might help with my symptoms. Nothing obvious happened - for the good or the bad.

Nora, regarding the lymph drainage -

if you can find a physical therapist who

can do this for you - it may be covered by

insurance.

Feeling horrible the next day is to be expected -

drinking water is mandatory

For myself, day 2 after my pt appointment is a relief for me - it is usually the best day I will have for a 2 week period (can only get there every 2 weeks)

Luckily my Rhuemo wrote a years worth of massage therapy for me outside the VA for my (bunk) Fibro diagnosis. So the VA pays for it. He just renewed my second yeara of twice weekly treatments this Feb.

She first started off with trigger point therapy which made me worse. When I first arrived, she said I was the worst off patient she had ever incountered!

She said it was if she were massaging a brick full of knots. She also said that I did not have fibro. I did not present like someone with Fibro. She thought I had Lupus but I do not. I've been tested for SLE.

She said it's like no matter how many times she works on me, my muscles are always hard and tight. Especially after taking a two week hiatis. My vacation to Ca. I was so sick from no therapy.

She has tried all different techniques on me. She is VERY good at what she does!!! She has literally worked miracles on her patients. She had a stroke victim that had not talked in over two years that sung the first part of Happy Birthday when she worked with him.

I try to drink as much as humanly possible. If not, I get in a tub with Apple Cider Vinager after. That helps detox the body. Probably doesn't make me smell the greatest though. [Big Grin]
