[shake] Before you yell at me (you yell because you care) yes, I have seen my home health care nurse and contacted my LLMD...haven't heard back.

Picc line inserted on Tuesday- bleeding was a bit of a problem, but OK. Gauze dressing removed on Wednesday.

Picc line is leaking some sort of fluid around the insertion area. Mostly clear-pinkish at times. Noticed after treatment on Wednesday. Moisture under the plastic covering and runs out. Nurse has put gauze over the top to collect the drip. Is this common? Is this just the area healing?

Watching for signs of infection- temp has been running 99.3 all day- highish but not uncommon for me at times.

If I remember correctly-I was told as far as ongoing bleeding or oozing- "the size of a dime, you're fine. the size of a quarter-call."

Actually as it turned out- i was allergic to the initial bandaging-which was see through-square-and my arm became inflamed and blisters radiated out from the bandage.

Brand was changed-but it took over a week to heal. I'm ultimately glad I had IV, but you bring back some of the more anxious times I experienced at the very beginning.

I say call whenever you have a concern or question.

Ya....been in my arm 3 months now....leakage...minor blood puss....just normal body reaction trying to heal....anthing dime or smaller your ok..quarter or bigger with red lines and sore areas on arm...call immediately. Try not to stress over small things like i did. Also..make sure they dont put your picc like right up close to the wound where it can be fording it to open and close....mine gets wider after the tube so i make sure i see a small bit of tube before the picc starts. if that makes sense.

hang in there.

Thanks or all the support! 5 days down...
I'm still having leaking problems, but understand it is just part of the healing process. Changing the dressing has become a hassle. But all in all , OK.

Skin is very sensitive to all the tape, so trying to just use gauze wrap and a netting.

I haven't had any herxing yet- will iv bring it on faster or stronger?

Fir sauna treatment has gone well w/ a towel wrapped around the area to catch any moisture. Feels good after the cold iv has gone in.

My 8 year daughter has become wonder nurse and wants to do all the work- good or both of us. She has taken this job very seriously- quite cute.

again, thanks for all your help and let me know if you have anything else that will help with this change.

I had an issue that actually turned out to be the line leaking. The fluid under my bandage was the same color as my abx, though, so that was a pretty good indicator!

The first time I noticed any bleeding around mine, I completely freaked out. It turned out to be nothing. On the other hand, you never want to hear the dreaded "why didn't you call us sooner?", so I'd say you definitely did the right thing calling.

I had a problem with bandages also. I was very allergic to it. I have a scar about the size of a quarter on my arm were my skin blistered off.

I eventually stopped using the bandages. I did sterile gauze with...I can't remember the name of it so I will describe it to you. It looks like an ace bandage but has a rubbery feel to it. It can be cut to fit your arm. Because of what it is made of it will adhere to itself. I wrapped it around the area twice.

It worked really well for me. I should also add that I put that over top of the netting. It kept it clean and also I could wear a short sleeve shirt and it just looked like I had an ace bandage on my arm.

Good luck...kit

P.S. I should add that it is not water proof. I used saran wrap and a plastic bread bad for that.
