Clin Pediatr (Phila). 2008 Jun 2. [Epub ahead of print] Links Lyme Arthritis Presenting as Transient Synovitis of the Hip.
Saulsbury FT.
Transient synovitis of the hip is a common cause of hip pain in children. The etiology of transient synovitis of the hip is unknown.
Lyme arthritis is characterized by brief, often recurrent episodes of oligoarthritis. Lyme arthritis most often affects a single knee, but hip involvement is uncommon.
This report describes 2 children with Lyme arthritis who presented with features of transient synovitis of the hip.
Lyme arthritis should be considered in the differential diagnosis of transient synovitis of the hip in children.

WOW - TC, are you kidding me?!!!!!
You actually found something new about Lyme printed in a PEDIATRIC journal?!!!
I was wondering why I saw that smile in conjunction with the title of this thread.
It also says it's NOT just the knee. There may be hope for the suffering children who are brought to ducks. Let's hope they all read it.
Great find!!!
Could this be helpful to Dr.J?
