Hi everyone. I've read Dr. B's 2006 guidelines for treatment, and he recommends such things as Doxy, Zith, Rifampin, etc., for treatment of Bart. I also know that for BLO treatments, he favors the quinolones.

Since it has been established that I cannot take Levaquin, I was just wondering if you guys/gals can tell me what your treatment protocol is for Bart, and the dosage?

I haven't responded to the Biaxin/Doxy combo that my doctor prescribed [6 months now], so I was contemplating whether I might just have Bart. I wondered if perhaps I'm on the wrong combo, due to strictly having Bart alone. Just a hunch...

Have you tried Rifampin?

No, haven't tried that one as yet. My LLMD I suppose, is trying to put together what he thinks will work for all. Before seeing him, I was being treated by a Nurse Practitioner who specializes in Lyme patients, and she had me on 5 months of Doryx/Biaxin. However, it was merely a trial run to see how I responded. I never did herx or have any type of reaction. My symptoms are mild, but still remain. I have been tested recently for co-infections, and should have the results in a day or so.

I was just curious about whether I might just have Bart alone, so hence my question.

What dosage of Rifampin do people usually take for Bart? And do they usually take it alone?
