Well, I am feeling stressed out about my 9 year old. He has Lyme and not sure of co-infections, but I assume so. He was on a month of Ceftin (omnicef) and didn't ever really feel better.
Ever since, he seems to be sick every 10 - 13 days, with his normal speech issues getting worse... In which my husband always says, it must be his allergies, or he must have a cold..ugh!
I am stressed out that the abx have made more symptoms that aren't going away?
****SO...I want to start him on Zithromax next, but I feel like somewhere I read of a couple of kids that went dangerously backwards after using zith. I am fearful of making him worse, i don't know why? Can anyone confirm stories of kids getting way worse on Zith?
Thanks for any info!
I am just heart-broken, here it is the first day of summer break and he has spent all day in bed feeling awful!

Many.most people with Lyme DO FEEL WORSE after taking or switching abx.
This common and normal reaction (Called a Herx) is due to the lyme being killed off in your body.
Lyme is also a very smart bacteria and when under attack- will move, change forms, and fight to survive.
A lot of people, including parents, wifes, husbands etc are in DENIAL about Lyme and how complex and devastating this bacteria is to people--- especially kids.
People get sick for a reason (root cause) and the Lyme bacteria and possible co-infections give your body and mind hundreds of reasons to not work well or fail.
Your husband can second guess your sons symptoms, but those including myself, my wife and my son will tell you that after being sick and having all kinds of weird symptoms;; and many opinions-- we have gotten better, not 100% but better after taking abx and working with the right Dr's who really know, understand and treat lyme 100% of the time.
It does however take time. Lyme is not a quick fix.
Take care
