I wanted to let everyone know how my appointment went with my new MD. Even though they are a Fibromyalgia and Fatigue Center, they do treat for Lyme.

I was e-mailed a 24pg questionare to fill out and bring with me. The visit was reasonable. The Labwork was a little pricey. That is to be expected.

She reviewed my questionare before comming into the room with me. She then asked if I'd been over seas. Then she asked me several other questions I'd answered from the questionare.

She explained Fibro to me and how it comes about. I do believe it exisits, simply because it means sore muscles. It's just that MOST doctors do not get to the bottom of what is causing it!

She looked at the first lab and said my WBC and RBC were definately off. Said I had an infection going on. Also said that there was no doubt in her mind I had Lyme.

She also gave me a physical exam. Just from the exam alone she said I had Hypothyroidism. Which I already figured out from my sypmtoms. I also have Adrenal issues.

She ran extensive Thyroid labs on me. As well as Adrenals. She also ran the Igenex lab work. She also wanted to test me for Babsea and Irilichea.
Said she suspected those two coinfections.

She did not want me to be suffering till my next visit, so she wrote me for some Rx.
She wrote for Armour Thyroid, Cortef, T3's,Valium, and Ambien.

She said there was no since in waiting for the labs to come back on my Thyroid. She already knew that I had Hypothyroidism upon Physical findings.

Although I could NEVER get the VA to do any of these test for over 6yrs [Mad] . She said that is not surprising. She used to work for them and knows their MO.

She spends an hour with you and then you go into a really nice area for your labs. They have nice cushy recliners where you can relax and look out the huge window. Especialy during any IV therapy.

Then when all that is done an RN goes over all the paperwork and you go to the front and pay. They will then set you up for your FU appt.

She also ran mycoplasma IgG and IgM. As well as a slew of others I can not remember. My Igenex should be here by the end of next week. Hopefully.

She said not to worry if it is negative. Doesn't mean I do not have it. If it is negative, I can still be positive for coinfections.

Over all, I thought she was very good and the staff there was excellent. They were all helpful and answered any questions I had.

It is the Fibro and Fatigue Center in Fort Worth,Tx.

Yes, I've heard good things about this doctor! I know someone who sees her.

Some FFC centers are not that good for Lyme, but I think you have a winner here.

Good luck! [Smile]

Thanks. I meant to post this under "Seeking a Doctor".
How can I move it over, without retyping the whole thing? [bonk]

i have a friend who goes there from lewisville.

my only concern is that she has been diagnosed with fibro and is on heavy medication and a lot are narcotics. a ton of pain pills and all kinds of things. her counter is covered with bottles.

she says she is totally disabled and quit working.

i worry about her.

i believe she has lyme but she says they told her no she does not.

yes i believe she is. i'm just concerned because she's on oxycontin, some sleepng pills, antidepressants, i mean she's got stuff i've never heard of. and she says she has to sign for most of it...

i wish she'd find out about the lyme but she won't even pursue it.

Well, IF she's seeing the same dr Nora is seeing, then she SHOULD be in good hands. I don't know. Dr B knows quite a bit about Lyme.

Hi everyone,

The deal is, this MD is not an LLMD.

Nora, any doctor can call themselves an LLMD. That doesn't mean they are. A "real" LLMD follows ILADS guidelines.

Sorry.

Truth be told ... Lyme is a tough cookie to treat and it takes someone with access to other "real" LLMD's. They share their knowledge.
