I just had a PIV installed on Tuesday. UUGGHH
Anyway, my LLMD is very specific on what to use etc.
Two items are a Biopatch and a Large Tegaderm dressing.
I have neither. I did have the Tegaderm, but the home nurse did not like that, ripped it off with 2/3 of my arm hair and just put some cloth tape over the needle area, calling it a "Chevron".
So, now all I have is a small piece of cloth tape covering the insertion needle.
I am to have this PIV in thru Saturday.
Am I being anal here, or should I complain. I surely do not need infection!

Sorry, this is a temporary line? I had a central line PICC and it was covered w/ tegaderm at all times.
If your line was originally covered w/ tegaderm and that is what your doc wanted, I would insist that those instructions be followed.

I agree with feelfit. If that was what your dr wanted, then that is what you should get.

Well that is where I am at as well. Nurse will be here late this afternoon, as she is concerned with me having a PIV.
However, I did my 3rd infusion at 9AM this morning and about 1.5 hrs after it ended I am itching like crazy. Benadryl does not seem to be cutting it....so, at this point I am not sure if they will stop the IV anyway. AAARRGGHH
