I have been on treatment for almost 1 year now. Compared to when I started treatment, I am now functioning on a daily basis. I could not even walk before. However, During treatment this year, I had new symtpoms, like vision and ear problems, which I did not have before treatment. my nore sever symptoms are now less severe, but like I said, I also have new ones. If we are eradicting the bacteria with abx, why would we get new symptoms? does that mean the bugs are increasing? Jenin

I can't explain it, but it does happen and does not mean the bugs are increasing necessarily (maybe more likely that some bugs are being moved around to different areas causing different symptoms), especially since you are treating and your more severe symptoms are now less severe.

Yes, I agree with disturbed. And also, I think that as you eradicate one infection, other infections may become more prominent.
As an example, prior to treating babs, I had almost zero bart symptoms. But now that the babs is gone (knock on wood), my bart symptoms are raging.
On the whole, I am better than before starting treatment, but now have new symptoms.
I think it's a bit like peeling back the layers of an onion, and finding more and more layers underneath. Not sure that makes sense, hope you can figure out what I'm trying to say...

Cactus,
I agree. I think it could be that when we get down the germ load of one disease, another may become more active.

This has happened to me as well - 2 years in treatment now.
I have found different abx create different symptoms. I will get new symptoms simply by switching abx, hopefully meaning it is killing in a whole new way.
Also co-infections must be addressed..do you have co-infections and have they been treated?
I also agree, that if germ load is lessened with lyme, co-infection symptoms become more prominent.
