I have been on Doxycillin for almost seven weeks.

I seem to feel better at times, but then inexplicably go back down with mild flu symptoms, light body aches and fatigue in the calfs and feet.

This disease seems to give one hope, and then take it away! Have any of you experienced similar symptoms?

Yep, it's just like Betty said.

We have good days, bad days, horrible days, almost perfect days, and then back to bad again.

I went up and down for eight months before the good days begain to outweigh the terrible ones.

Its a long, bumpy, frustrating road to recovery.

Hang in there.

Believe me, it DOES get better. And I used to hate my LLMD telling me this, but, just like he said, "it just takes TIME!" [Wink]

Yes, but we all hope to get better after the ups and downs of abx.

This is one nasty bacteria.

Echo - lucky you...only 8 months? I am at 2 years of this up and down ride.

Unfortunately it is the name of this game...some call it the Lyme dance two steps forward one step back.

You will herx during growth cycles when the bacteria grows and waxing and waning is what happens all the time.

I can have a completely bad day, wake up and it is a great day...back and forth, forth and back.

My most discouraging have been months (2) that I thought I would make it 30 days NEARLY symptom free, talk about HOPE! Then I woke up one morning and surprise - just like nothing had changed...makes me cry. It happened last August and this past May...so discouraging to go so long and start believing this is it, I am getting well for sure.

But I hope it is a sign my body is trying and I know it can feel pretty good - so I keep pressing on for those days and hopefully one of these times it will turn good and never go back.

We hope for 2 months symptom free + 2 more months abx beyond that.

Hang in there...it can be discouraging for sure.

I have been going through this for four years; I just can't understand it. Been a lot more down than up the last year and a half. Just keep plugging away, and trying different things.

They key, though, is that you (to the original poster) are only 7 weeks in. So, going up and down is completely normal right now, I would think. So don't be alarmed at all, just keep going until your doctor thinks it is safe to go off the meds. Wait until those ups and downs subside.

If, however, things go downhill or don't seem to be improving, might want to look into different medicine combos or retesting for coinfections through a high-quality lab like Igenex.
