Hi everyone,

I was wondering if there is anyone out there taking Ceftin and getting these horrible feelings:

-Huge anxiety
-depressed
-constant fear
-feeling of falling
-freaking out all the time like panic attack.
-Out of reality, spaced out

I took if for 2 months, and suddenly last month I was sent to hospital as I had dizziness, shortness of breath panic attack and felt like adrenaline was just running out of my body constantly.

I thought I was going to die.

Of course nothing was found eventhough my herat felt like it was going to collapse they couldn't see anything wrong on the heartrate monitor.

My LD doc told me that it could either be Herx or some reactions due to the Ceftin so he advised me to stop it for a week.

I felt a bit better after 3-4 days off the Ceftin.
I haven't used the paperbag all week and was able to redo basic stuff suh as driving, shopping et less adrenaline rushes.

But some symptoms came back such as ear pain, stomach aches and insomnia.

I decided to take it again yesterday nite out of desperation.

I woke up this morning feeling horrible again with constant waves of fear, even going out of bed freaks me out. The feeling is so bad I just want to go out of my body.

Is there anyone out there who gets this with the Ceftin, is that a typical Herx with the Ceftin or a side effect?

I found that driving has become a huge problem as I get the feeling while I drive.

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Bicillin does this to me...Omnicef did it to my son.

He switched to Doxy and is doing GREAT...I am still searching.

Plaquenil and malerone both gave my a lot of depression and crying bouts. Once I stopped I was my usual normal Lymey self with fatigue and malaise, but no depression within 2 days.

Thank you for your kind replies thoughts,

so I guess there is nothing to do then just wait for this thing to pass. It's been here all day...

It is so scary though, I feel so out of reality and even the slightest thing to do such as going to the post office or answering the phone just freaks me out. Just thinking about it is to much to control.

I spoke to my LD, he told me to take the lowest dosage of ceftin 250mg 2x a day and see if there is a difference.

I don't get this, I've been on 1g Ceftin for 2 months and then this happen....?? why would the drug do this after so many days?

He doesn't think it's Herx because at the same time that I get the feeling of fear there are some symptoms that are getting better.

He said that if I was herxing I would feel bad everywhere and not have symptoms dissapearing at the same time.

The noradrenaline pumping out too much from my body does make sense to me.

Unfortunately Ceftin is the only drug that helps my stomach, the other atbx brings the pain back and then I can't eat
I get aneamia and can't take iron tablets and need to get iron infusion...

it's a whole messy vicious circle and I hate it.

I wish the doctors in the UK could just put a line into a vein and give me atbx so that it doesn't have to go through my stomach.

But it's not the case so i just have to work through the boundaries...

I tried to take Xanax the other day and instead of making me calm it triggered a panic feeling with sweats, I thought I was going to die.
Did anyone get that?

My LD doc doesn't understand that either it's like my body does the opposite of what the drugs are supposed to do.
I'm supposed to try Valium next time.

I'm worried of the outcome.

Try klonopin. Xanax seems to make me more anxious too. As for your other symptoms, these can also be symptoms of TBI's in general.

I have every symptom that you mentioned, but have them on evey med and before I even took meds.

Have you been tested for co-infections? Maybe Bartonella is deciding to show its face? Might want to ask your doc.

Hope this helps,
Feelfit

OMG! That must have been horrible to feel like that with every meds and even without them! you are very courageous! I hope it has supsided now? was it down to Bartonella for you? If I were to feel like that all my life everyday I couldn't manage.

I have been treated for 1 year for Bartonella with Levaquin,
then I got tendonitis and that was the end of it.

I couldn't tolerate anything else for Bartonella.

I can't say that the Levaquin made a huge difference anyway so I never really know if I really had it.
My test was negative for Bart. but my LD doc thought that I still had symptoms.

Interesting that u reacted bad with the Xanax too, it's nice to meet people who react the same, makes me feel not that weird after all! LOL.

Thanks for the advice of klonopin.
Have you tried L-theanine as well?

ugh...that is such a horrible feeling.

I had this problem with flagyl and with biaxin. I was fine for 5 weeks, and then BAM! I thought I was going to die I was so scared and crying all the time...

Interestingly, the switched me onto Ceftin, and I haven't had any problems at all, not even GI problems

SOmetimes, you just have to try different abx until y ou find what works best for you.

Just in case, ask the doc for xanax for panic attacks....

Yep ceftin was the only AB that did this to me it was unbearable. I came off it and it cleared but did take a long while.

I will teake any drug but never ceftin again.
