Dry eyes can be caused by many things - and especially not blinking often enough or focusing too long on a particular task. Computer use is one of those that can lead to dry eye.
Still, in those with healthy challenges, it seems to occur more often and sometimes, the dry eyes alone, can be very painful and debilitating. So the proper drops can help - but it's no so easy to choose the right drops.
I can't address this fully, but the most important thing is NOT to use visine or other drops that "gets the red out" as they are very drying.
You might do a search here for posts by EyeBob . . .
there are preservative free drops that are better than others.

I have severe dry eyes, bad enough that as I blink, it jerks at the skin on my eyeball and creates a blister. My eyes really hurt most all the time, I hate it. My most debilitating symptom at this time. My eyes are always flooded with crying tears in an effort to compensate.
Dry eyes have been a problem for me for many years, but something happened about 2 years. Life was really stressful, I got sick and then got this infection in my eyes and my eyes have been a mess every since.
I am so hopeful that treating the EBV, makes a dfference. I am on my 6th dose of Valcyte and yesterday was pretty good. My eyes did not hurt at all and watered just a bit. It was really nice. I am not ready to say it is the antiviral yet as on occasion I do have a good day here and there. My energy level was up yesterday and I felt pretty clear headed.
We'll see though. Today my eye hurts a bit more and they are more watery. I'll let you know how my progress goes.

I was diagnosed with Sjornes. I also had silicone plugs put in my tearducts (puncta) in 2004.
I recently had the right one replaced this Feb. I am wondering if they misdiagnosed me. I have a friend with Blepharitis. It is simular but the Sjornes is the worser of the two evils.
I will post the site. It sugest washing with baby shampoo at night. This corects the Ph balance.
Mine are extremely DRY! If it is cold or windy they tear out of both corners. It looks like I have been crying. They even tear at night. The cream I was given to use at night burns them.
I am allergic to it. I will get the site and post it. It is extremely informative. I was also found to have a Chortoid Nevus. Which I NEVER had 4yrs ago. NICE!
I hope that you find this information helpful. Lyme causes imflamation in almost all areas of the body. Including the eyes. Yes, that is what I meant. I had a feeling I mispelled that one. Hard sometimes too when docs mispell things in your OWN records.
My Army records and VA records are so messed up. One page will have TVH and the next one will have TAH. HELLO!!
