Does anyone know anything about these...are LLMDs promoting them in conjunction with abx therapy, etc? There are so many kinds on the market that make so many claims, and of course the costs are all over the place. I like the idea of them if they, in theory, work.
Any recommendations?

I can't really give recommendations, but I've heard things about ****ake mushrooms doing the immune system and white blood cells good.
I have had chronic low white blood cell counts for many years and was told to try Beta Glucan because it stimuates the immune system, especialy the macrophages which are the cells that engolf foreign matter and invaders in our bodies. I haven't tried it yet, but may in the future, depending on the results of my bone marrow biopsy.

I take Beta Glucan, but haven't noticed any identifiable response and it didn't boost my immune system numbers.
I take Jarrow brand "Mushroom Optimizer", a blend of 7 kinds of mushrooms. This really works, at least it always gives an immediate kick,; i can feel something in or on my forehead reacting. So it's one of my "must have" supplements, even though my numbers are still low.
I've taken other brands of mushrooms but didn't notice any response.

In the past, I got tremendous help from lion's mane. Cordyceps also really helps - gently - with energy. And another mushroom, Poria (Fu Shen), works very well for me to settle down excitability and allow for sleep.
I cannot tolerate seizure drugs so, one mushroom, gandoderma, I took (on my own) to help against seizures. That it did, but I was a bowl of jell-o, nearly unable to move and sooo sleepy. When I asked the author of the "One Earth..." book below about it, he said, "well, yeah . . . it really lowers blood pressure" and that's why it made me so sleepy. He knew exactly what to do.
I learned that you can't just read about something. You have to go further and consult with those who really know all about it. So much is not written in books available to us and what is written, often, leaves out a lot - or one tiny, yet vital, key.
Reading is good, of course, and many here don't have funds but, it's cheaper in the long run to ask an expert. For those who don't have access due to funds or location, sometimes, a phone consult to discuss a specific question is less than a supplement.
Especially if used for immune function, it would be great to have someone who both really knew about lyme + co. and about all the mushrooms' value and functions.
I know that Dr. Z's book discusses the use of cordyceps. And he is available for calls (he requests that the book is read first, though, as it saves so much time and answers lots of questions).

Carol's link above is a very good article. Here are some more:
"mushroom" and "mushrooms" each give you ten articles.

this is just a start in the study of medicinal mushrooms.
AND - portabella mushrooms are an excellent source of protein, more easily digested than meat for an evening meal - and I feel better when I eat them. The gourmet flavor is also a treat.

I tried some of the mushroom combos. I had specific brands recommended by my doctor that were fairly expensive.
I didn't notice much of a change in my health. I don't remember the brand names. I'd have to look it up.
I think they may have health benefits but I'd prefer to get the benefits from eating dried shi take mushrooms from Asian stores. They have other kinds of mushrooms you can eat as food, as well.

I didn't care for this statement from the article "Medicinal Mushrooms for Lyme Disease"...
"We know this because consuming the wrong type of mushroom (such as the skull-cap mushroom) can kill you, and consuming other types of mushrooms commonly used by drug addicts can lead to a drug-induced high."
There are many indigenous cultures who use mushrooms for spiritual purposes. It's kind of ignorant to say "drug addicts" use mushrooms to get high.
