Hi. I've been taking tetracycline 1000mg a day

for about a week now and I am getting some really

bad acid reflux.

I don't know when it is best to take it - tried

one hour before eating and two hours after eating.

It doesn't seem to matter.

Does anyone have any remedies for acid reflux or

any suggestions on how I could take tetra so it

would not cause this problem.

Thanks.

I had to take doxy with food due to the same problem. [shake]

Make sure you don't lay flat for at least one to two hours after taking it.

Hope this helps.

Hugs,

Geneal

I did take doxy successfully for six weeks by taking it with food.

But, can you take tetra with food?

If you can, how soon after eating can you take it?

If taken with food...esp. calcium...you reduce the effectiveness.

Acid reflux hurts and can be damaging.

This is what I do:

I take 1 Zantac and 2 Pepto bismol *at bedtime* for a few days. (My sis, with lyme and on abx at the time, was told this combo. as stated for 1 week was okay.)

I think you may find this link very interesting:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12051564

Look at Zantac packaging...see what it IS?!

Are you taking 250mg 4x/day? 500mg 2x/day? 1000mg all at once?

Interesting article. I was taking 500mg 2X a day. But I think I'm calling the LLMD tomorrow as I cannot stomach this stuff.
