since I got bitten in 1999, and I went on abx for 3 weeks, and did get a rash AFTER the abx treatment, I did not get any symptoms untill 2006, when I started taking prednisone and got a stiff neck. that lasted for 2 months, It was only in feb 2007 after my knee surgery is when came out with a vengence. So when do I start counting when I got lyme, when I started getting symtpoms, or when I got bitten. Does it just sit there dormant not multiplying in your body when it is dormant, until your immune system goes down?
when do we start counting, so I can figure out how long I need treatment, just for piece of mind.

I don't think you can figure out how long you need treatment by how long you have had Lyme.

I got bitten 35 years ago and have had random symptoms ever since. There were four times (including this time) that I got really sick for months (this time for years), but I was never symptom-free.

I have been in treatment for 18 months and am 90% well. Each person is different. Some who have had it this long take several years to get well.

I would say you have had Lyme since you got bitten and treated the first time.

Because ticks can come in very small sizes many of us may have been bitten by diseased ticks earlier then we first thought without knowing it. They are very tricky critters and hang out in more places then most people care to think about, not just the woods or forest. That is my theory but I could be wrong. Maybe we do not get symptoms until we have had more than one bite?

I think Dr. B. has written about how the first time a horse gets a LD bite they do not get sick but 6 months later when they receive a second bite they do get symptoms.

I have had at least 3 tick bites that I know about.

I think trying to figure out when one first received the disease may be very difficult.
