My LLMD has recently added Mino (50 mg bid) to my Ceftin (500 mg, bid). I thought that bacteriostatic antibiotics and bactericidal antibiotics were not used together. I am also concerned that neither level is high enough to kill the bugs. My LLMD is concerned that the standard Ceftin dose is too much for a woman of my weight (105 lbs.) but I have tolerated other abx well to date.
I have chronic lyme (diagnosed Aug., 2007, 5 bands positive) with a lot of neurological involvement, including jerking and an abnormal EEG. I also had a recent CD 57 of 42. Meanwhile, I'm convinced I have Bartonella, despite a negative test from IGENX. I have had a lump under my right ear that went down in size considerably following a month of metronidazole but now is back. I also have problems with one of my eyes, which is always glassy when I awake, and I seem to have bone lesions as well.
This is my first post as a member of this site. Hopefully, some of you can share your thoughts with me.

This is the combo I'm currently on.....do you see Dr. M in Maine by any chance??
I've been treating for a year and have definitely seen some improvement but I'm not sure whether I can give credit to this combo or not.
Hope you see some improvements on it....

I have been on this combo for a couple of months, both Ceftin and Mino make me dizzy and I have been unable to get up to the doses recommended by my LLMD (however I'm sensitive and always have to ramp up to dosages).
I've been on antibiotics for four years, have a terrible case of Bartonella and have been on antibiotics for that for a long time and still have myoclonic jerking among many other neurological symptoms.
Yes, I have lots of visual disturbance - the one-eyed blurring upon awakening being among one of my first symptoms. I believe it's Bartonella.
My first two Bartonella IGeneX tests were negative despite obvious Bart symptoms. As soon as I took Levaquin I broke out in a huge Bart rash and my test turned positive.
