I previously read on this site that Zhang's artemisia is really potent, and that you need to add artemisia to your treatment for babesia duncani.

I've been taking it, but my neck has been so stiff, and my legs are having funny sensations or even lack of sensations.

Wasn't there something posted here that artemisinin can cause brain or spinal inflammation? Should I back off a bit?

Thanks everyone. You have all been so helpful [Smile]

This, itself, isn't causing brain inflammation. That's pretty much already there from the illness. But, this is not a stand-alone treatment and there are other parts of the protocol designed to reduce inflammation.

And, this may not be right for you.

But there are more questions, first.

It this the only thing you are taking ?

Have you read the book? That will answer many questions.

Also, as many LLMDs incorporate Hepapro's supplements, if you are seeing a LLMD for your total treatment plan, be sure to ask them.

This is part of a protocol, not to be taken alone.

And, what liver support are you doing? Artemesinin requires the liver detox pathway, Cytochrome P-450. Patients who have trouble with that pathway have to take special measures. All patients need liver support while treating lyme, anyway.

Combination - and communication - is everything. I hope you have a doctor you can ask about this.

or go through www.hepapro.com - They can also direct you to a web site for more information.

I also assume that you avoid all aspartame/Nutrasweet/Equal - and check any gum or mints or toothpastes. This is a neurotoxin.

MSG, too. It's also neurotoxic. Be sure to google it for all its names and check labels of your food. It's in canned tuna, but so is mercury so canned tuna is off limits.

Also, water, teas are the main focus for what we drink. I assume that's pretty much in line with your plan. Any alcohol can affect the treatment negatively. Many have come to love green - or even green CHAI tea - iced.

Be sure to check out the NEWBIE thread at the top of medical.

Good luck - and listen to your body. If you have a bad reaction, back off or stop. there are always other ways -

My mother had to stop taking it altogether it was so strong so you're not a wimp OR crazy.

Definitely back off if you're herxing TOO much. It's pretty strong.

My Mom just didn't think it was worth it but instead of stopping, I would just lower dose.

Best,

Okay, from your recent posts, I see that you have a doctor. Good.

I think it's best to call and ask your question today, if you can.

-

you wrote on another thread: " . . . I will now be taking rifampin along with mepron (I have lyme and babesia and who knows what else). Is this a common combo? I am also taking artemisia (zhang). . . . "

--

So, have you started the rifampin? The mepron ?

The mepron will work with the artmesinin to treat the babesia. Good combination.

Again - liver support ? Are you taking milk thistle (which is normally good, but with mepron that is tricky). Ask your doctor what the liver support plan is. With artemisinin, that is vital.
