I got a rash and bullseye within 10 days of a tick bite. I am now on doxycycline for 21 days.
What is the recommended follow up after the antibiotics? I never had a lyme test.

I got the tick while working so it is covered under workmans comp, but I want to have a paper trail as I am changing jobs soon.

Any suggestions/advise is appreciated.

thank you.

One of the flash discussions here on Lymenet is "Seeking a Doctor". That's what you need to do- get treated by what we call an LLMD (Lyme-Literate Medical Doctor). Post something in that particular forum and you should get a couple of suggestions. Some of them take a while to get into, so best to try to get an appointment ASAP.

Also, Burrascano's guideless are very helpful for newbies. I think they can be found among BettyG's "newbie links".

welcome, glad you found us.

yes, post in seeking dr. and show in subject line: MAINE LLMD needed, and copy your link here with info over into this NEW POST. paste your info there.

go to lower left hand corner and mark you want all replies sent to you. send.

we recommend 2-3 months of antibiotics; 2 months with NO SYMPTOMS BEFORE DISCONTINUING or you can become CHRONIC like the rest of us here... you don't want that.

print off dr. burrascano's 05, ILADS, lyme guidelines.

see my newbie package info; click on link at bottom of my package.

YES, KEEP TRACK OF YOUR PAPER TRAIL; MAKE COPIES OF EVERYTHING!!

frankly, i'd make sure you are SYMPTOM FREE BEFORE CHANGING JOBS! no kidding; you have just entered a nightmare, and right now they will pay.

frankly, majority of us pay OUT OF POCKET FOR EVERYTHING!!! appts., treatments, tests, meds, labs, etc.

insurance companies refuse to pay. look for cathy, TDTID's post today about insurance calling to cancel coverage for PICC line insertion tomorrow after approving earlier.

For a new infection you need at least

2 months of doxycycline at 400 mg/day (200,

which you most likely had, completely failed me

and thousands of others), and then, you

need to find a physician who follows the

treatment protocols of the international

Lyme and associated diseases society (ILADS).

Any other doc will give you NO follow-up,

and, as Lyme is in many cases a relapsing-

remmitting illness, the ability to follow up

crucial.

DOing anything other than this is taking

a huge gamble with everything that

matters to you.

Oh, and also--the rash you had is a

pathognomonic (diagnostic) Lyme symptom, and the

test have sensitivity rates of around 40%...

so don't let anyone tell you you don't have Lyme.
