Anyone take this supplement? I have a doctor who is recommending it because I had untraceable iodine in a urine test.

He said my levels are way too low for full body sufficiency. I know this is something like 10,000 times the recommended daily allowance.

I do not have thyroid issues. Any cause to be concerned?

I'd appreciate your feedback. Thanks everyone.

I think if low iodine is a concern, and an almost undetectable iodine in a urine is suggestive of this though not absolute, gradual replacement starting with kelp, one capsule per day, with gradual upward titration to a dose of 3 capsules 3 times per day is the way to start. After being at that dose for a few days, then start with 1/2 an iodoral for a few days then up it to one per day. The Japanese supposedly take in a much larger daily dose of iodine with a high seaweed and fish diet...

Thyroid hormone is one of the most potent hormones in the body, and though you have no demonstrable (via labwork I am assuming) sign of thyroid dysfunction, a sudden increase could cause some change in thyroid function that may result in profound effects, like, say, a herx.

my llmd wants me on iodoral. 2 a day.

i am on prevacid for reflux

when i started the iodoral-1/2 pill...i got bad reflux. doc said he had never heard of that before.

i did some natural reflux stuff and was able to stop my ibuprofen after knee surgery. then i was able to take the iodoral 2 times a day with no problems.

now..2 months later...the reflux is coming back from it. i'm on abx now. there just seems to be such a delicate balance.

but i also am on armour thyroid and when i started iodoral i also started vit D cuz i tested very low. i felt an immediate improvement in energy. it seemed more from the D but i think they might all wor together.

maybe more of dr c's patients will come along and answer. i think he often prescribes iodoral

I take alot o Iodine everyday of the week, every cell in the body needs it and it can be depleted with chronic illness.

Also if you have a history of drinking alot of soda drinks, sports drinks, and other similar drinks.... you are most likely a little high in bromide (like me) and Iodine will help that toxicity go down. There is a blood test for it but I forgot which one it is... [bonk] [bonk]
