I'm extremely confused on how to go about getting an Igenex Western Blot test.

Do I, the patient, submit for the packet then have my doctor sign off on it and go from there. Or do they usually order everything?

My PCP did a lyme titre and it came back as a 12.8 when normal is <0.9. That test didn't have anything about bands though.

I'm going for my first LLMD appointment next Thursday and want to have everything I can ready for the visit.

Thanks everyone!
George

Go to their website first. Get the phone number. They will send you the package for free with everything you need in it.

I still have mine. I ended up testing positive through Labcorp, just as I was about to try to do the Igenex thing.

However, my LLMD already had the IgeneX kits there. And they wanted to test through them as a guide because Labcorp and commercial labs leave out important bands.

That's what I've learned anyway. [Smile]

The order must be signed by a doctor. Call your LLMD's office and see if they have the kits there, as suggested above.

IGENEX - www.igenex.com

Good luck.

Igenex requires patients prepay for tests unless they have Medicare. For those with Medicare, IGENEX will file the paperwork for you. It's free.

It's important to read the Igenex website located at: www.igenex.com

Twice per year prices rise. Call 1-800-832-3200 for current pricing!

Once you decide to order testing, you can call the above number and they will send you a ``test kit'' with their required paperwork to fill out with your doctor. Included in the test kit, you'll find blood vials, a box to ship it in. International patients will have to pay to ship the package back to Igenex, but Igenex will send the test kit to you free.

Your health care provider must sign, date as well as show the diagnostic code ICD-9 for Lyme: 088.81 or for the particular disease you have, in order for Igenex to know why the provider is ordering the test.

When you get your results, please post them in the medical section for Lymenet.org. The only portions of your test that need to be posted are those marked with a positive symbol, or IND.

Make sure to include the fax number for your health care provider on the order forms they give you in your Igenex Test Kit. You'll be able to receive the results by mail, as well as Fax, thus avoiding problems.
