I have a biological dentist who is fine however expects payment ASAP. He is sending insurance claims in but of course, I still owe quite a bit after everything is settled.
Is it common for them to work with you or do they expect payment ASAP? I also found them to be almost twice the price of my old regular dentist. Of course I won't go back due to illness/heavy metal issues.

It would depend upon the dentist and your dental insurance coverage.
Check with your company.
They usually do not accept insurance as insurance usually will not reimburse for anything beyond the basics.
If a person has porphyria, however, composite fillings may be accepted by dental insurance due to medical reasons that porphyria patients cannot have any mental in their fillings.
That would require documentation, however.
And, yes, for doctors who are not directly on your insurance plan, it is usual that they ask for payment at the time of service. Arrangements can be made prior with some dentists.
Although the cost is more, I'm confused on why you say you won't go back due to heavy metals issues. Most regular dentists still use mercury in fillings.
I found one on my insurance who does not, however, so you might call around.
