Last night I was found passed out on the bathroom floor.

All I remember is waking up feeling very nauseous, and getting up to go into the bathroom. My spouse was awoken by the thud, and came to find me.

I don't have a recent history of fainting, although did so as a teenager. I do have POTS, but it has never caused fainting.

Any ideas as to the cause?

I have been off abx for 10 days while doing some GI testing, and was scheduled to start a new protocol today.

Without abx, I take: synthroid and Cymbalta in the am, and trazodone for sleep at night. Yesterday evening, I drank half a cup of coffee, which is the only change (other than no abx for 10 days).

WebMD says that fainting can be a serious side effect of trazodone. I have been using trazadone for a few months without this effect, so not sure if it's the cause.

Would this warrant a weekend call to the LLMD?

Thanks for any input.

I would call my LLMD.

Maybe you also have NMH like I do along with the POTs.

Please call your LLMD.

You could have been seriously hurt.

Glad you weren't.

Hugs,

Geneal

Thank you, Geneal.

I called and spoke to the on call doc. She suspects POTS, also.

Also said to call my LLMD on Monday and get an appt asap.

In the meantime, load up on fluids and go to the ER if it happens again. With small kids, I hope it doesn't come to that.

Today I am battered and bruised, and feeling pretty crummy, so thank you for your response and the concern.

I agree with Geneal, it's probably the POTS and perhaps undx'd NMH. I also have both.

In addition to the trazodone, Cymblata can also cause orthostatic hypotension, although my LLMD seems to think it doesn't.

Avoid too much caffeine. I usually don't have any at all, but at special times I will drink one soda per day to help me stay awake.

Good luck, and stay safe.

Thank you for the hugs, Betty!

And thanks lymednva. Were you diagnosed with NMH and POTS in VA? My LLMD diagnosed the POTS, but has mentioned a need for a neurologist. Do you have an LL-neuro? Or at least an L-friendly neuro? I was just about to post in seeking a doctor to find out if there is such a person in VA...

So sorry to hear this cactus!

Do you remember getting up to go to the bathroom? My sister and my mother have both suffered injuries from sleep walking.

We all have the NMH too which could be a contributing factor.

I'd consider changing meds to something else to see if that helps.

I'm glad you called your LLMD. Hope you get this figured out and stopped right away.

Terry

Cactus my LLMD dx's and treats POTS and NMH right in his office. It was the first thing he addressed with me since it was so severe when I first saw him.

You can PM me for more info. He's in NoVA.

Sounds like low cortisol levels. I'd get a hormone test to see if you need Cortef supplements.
