I am supposed to start taking lariam this week for babesia, and I am scared!!

The doctor warned me about the side effects.

Anyone currently taking it?

I took this med in the past and had severe anxiety from it. Be very careful about the psych symptoms from this med, it can be very dangerous.

How soon did you notice the effects?

I take it. I had minor hallucinations the first two doses (heard things), then took it with no problems whatsoever after that.

I take this - never had any psych issues whatsoever on it, but did herx initially.....if you are not able for the full tab every 5 days, do 1/2 - 3/4 tab.

Good luck with it.

Did the lariam get rid of your babs?

I've been battling babs for 18 months. I'm afraid nothing has gotten rid of it yet. I'm currently on Malarone, Lariam, Artemisia, and Enula for the babs.

I took larium for about 3 months or so, did major bug damage.

The first 24-84 hours where the worst.

But following that was major loss of illness.

Def works FASTER then mepron/malarone but the herx is harsh...but very much worth it.

I did load the dose too...did 5 lariam the first day...in divided doses.

I didnt experience any bad side effects, I think it was just herx.

I've also been treating Babs for almost 18 months...and still not under control. I am taking Lariam, Clindamycin and Cryptolepsis for it at the mo.

I took the lariam on tuesday. Yesterday I felt kind of woozy, and today I feel the same with a major headache!

Almost like a migraine, and a little nauseous.

Does this sound familiar to anyone??
