Jennie Garth poses with her husband, actor Peter Facinelli Jennie Garth faced every mother's worst nightmare when her daughter Lola became ill with a mysterious affliction, leaving doctors clueless as to her ailment.
Garth had just finished her stint on "Dancing with the Stars" earlier this year when her 5-year-old daughter was hospitalized.
Shortly afterwards, the star's father died, and she says both experiences took their toll on her body.
She tells People.com, "I had this six months of hell. I had a sick daughter and then my father passed away, so there was a six-month period in my life when I didn't think about my looks or my weight or my body or anything.
"(Lola) got very sick and we didn't know what was wrong with her. ... I was basically locked in a closet with her for three months.
"I didn't exercise or eat healthy. I had been a (size) 27 in my jeans after "Dancing with the Stars" and I was so excited. But it really went back quickly. I definitely gained inches and a size."
Garth, who is now starring in "90210," says her daughter is now recovering after doctors finally made a diagnosis: "It turned out to be a form of JRA (Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis) and we treated her and it's in remission. It was tough, but she's better now."

I hate the JRA diagnosis. Sounds fishy to me.

Yeah, there's definitely something wrong when Dr's Dx's beg the patient's question(s).
Doc, I'm tired all the time!= Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS.).
Dr. My joints hurt all the time, and I'm young!= Juvenile Rheumatoid arthritis (JRA.).
Dr., I have flu-like symptoms, and they won't go away!= "Chronic Influenzoid syndrome"- Made that one up.

I personally think Jennie Garth doesn't look healthy, either. You can see that hollowness in her eyes. It's just a gut instinct.
She looks a lot older than early 30's and I wonder if it's due to her daughters' illness or maybe SHE is sick, as well?

Polly Murray was the first to make the connection between "JRA" and Lyme disease ( or tick bites ).
I hope someone will tell Jennie about Lyme!!!

My son was diagnosed with JRA, was taken to a major teaching hospital in Long Island, NY, had water extracted from his knee and had irregular blood work. Took him to Dr. J. and it turned out to be lyme. That was 5 years ago. This started when he was 8 and he is now 13 and has been dormant for a few months. I hope Jennie puts the connection together.

I just read this on aol. My youngest son was diagnosed with JRA at age 5, when he woke up on his birthday unable to walk, because his right knee was so painful it caused him to cry when he tried to walk. Extremely frightening, and I will never forget the horror and desperaton I felt as a mother. His pedi sent him to a specialist who did tests, and an MRI to rule out bone cancer!!! Talk about a frightening ride!
Someone, anyone, needs to get the news to Jennie Garth to take her daughter to, who--Probably Dr. H. he's down there in Malibu, and get her daughter in treatment. Who can do that here?
My son's knee pain went away about 2 weeks later, only to return about 4 months later. His initial episode got him tested up the wa-zoo, but nothing was found. An ANA test was abnormal, but that's it.
4 months later, the pain came back, as bad as the initial pain, and he was sent to an orthopedic specialist, who in turn sent us to UCSF in San Francisco, drum roll, wait for it---TO THE PEDIATRIC JRA CLINIC!!! By the time we got in to be seen (weeks later) the knee pain was gone.
I did not have any one suggest lyme disease back then. I was a busy mom, and I also had an older son who was having headaches (he was 7 at the time that they started) that were becoming more pronounced, increasing in intensity. I had no idea what to do with him either. His pedi ruled out "brain cancer", and that was that.
Years after their initial symptoms, both tested positive at Igenex, and I did too. We were an active, outdoorsy family, and I actually had a tick bite between the 3 of us. So, we all did lyme treatment, and while they still get headaches, and the youngest still gets knee pain, it does not debilitate, and I can't differentiate the pains of growing, and stress, to if the lyme has returned/relapsed.
Jennie Garth had better get someone in the know to tell her what's what. Maybe Amy Tan?

I wrote a note to her last night, was on line and thinking I'll send it to her at the CW network. There's really no address for her on line. It 's the same story with my son and just wanted to tell her that all signs pointed out to be lyme. He's fine now - but when symptoms come back, he goes back on orals. My son goes to Dr. J. I'll send it to the network. I know I'd want to know the possibility to be something other than JRA. That's too common a diagnosis. Just another avenue for her keep in mind.

Ha you've got it right James Marschner. If I knew how the word "syndrome" was used I could've been an american doctor. I discovered a host of diseases just by reading this forum.
got a headache - chronic headache syndrome diarrhea that won't go away - crapyourself syndrome blurry vision - crazy eye syndrome your a kid and your joints hurt - juvenile arthritis syndrome.... wait someone already stole that one from me.
And the cure for all steroids!!...or anything that'll keep your immune system from doing it's job.
