Two days ago my LLMD told me to stop all abx because of White blood cell count of 2300...
In fact it wasn't even my doctor but some woman in the office who told me that and on the question about how bad exactly is this result she said "well, you won't be able to fight a common cold." and hung up....
I did a complete blood count a week before and the result was 3300 so I think it was really taking 4 kind of antibiotics at a time during that week that did it (1 for bladder infection, 2 for lyme and 1 for a bad gum infection)...
So now I am just on the clindamycin for gum infection and really nervous that my WBC are not going to rise high enough to continue the treatment.
Did someone have a similar problem?
Is one week usually enough to restore normal counts?
Is there any foods or supplements I can eat to help it??
I would much appreciate any help on this matter.
Take care,
Sing

Well....
Last time I had my WBC count checked it was also at 2.3 (like yours)... but this is normal for me as my WBC has been low (always in the 2.0 range) for over six years (even before I was on abx).
I don't know what will raise it. I've tried certain types of mushrooms for it, like Reishi, and it didn't help. It may help raise some peoples' levels, but hasn't helped mine.
I'm just doomed. LOL. Mine's been low for so long now and we really don't know why. I've even had a bone marrow biopsy worried that it may be other such things and that came back normal.

When my daughter had persistent low WBC from antibiotics, the naturopath we work with suggested shark liver oil. It did the trick. It's important not to take it for more than 60 days in a row without a break, however. (60 days on, 30 days off.)

I've heard that Transfer Factor helps to raise low wbc. It might be something to ask your dr. about. Maybe someone else with experience in using it can let us know how effective it is.

I had this problem from both Bactrim and Rifampin but once i stopped the drugs they climbed back up in a week or so.

I've had a low WBC for many years, due to undiagnosed lyme and chronic mono rather than antibiotics. Astragalus (the herb) and lots of vitamin C help raise my white count.

My lyme doc gave me Transfer Factor when my white blood cell count went low. It worked wonderfully. It kept me from having to stop my antibiotic therapy.
He carried the best brand. (Sorry I don't remember the name.)
I don't remember the dose, but I know that after 2 weeks of taking it, he had my blood tested again and the count was sufficiently up that I didn't have to have a break in treatment.
