OK, so I know that this is pretty insignificant in the scheme of things and I know this is a made-up term...but I have no clue what else to label it.
My elbow, just one, has had this peeling thing going on for about a year now. It does not hurt, or burn or itch...it just won't heal!
This is the only place on my body with this condition. I have tried creams, salves, etc. Nothing phases it.
Any clues what this might be?

not sure if this is exactly the same thing, but it sure sounds very close.
i've had a patch of weird on my left elbow for over a year now too. The skin doesn't peel, though, looks more like the area is scuffed. No pain, itchiness etc. either.
My llmd looked at it a month ago- she didn't think it had anything to do with Lyme or co's, not did she think it was contact dermatitis or psorisis or anything else she was familiar with.
She suggested seeing a dermatologist - if i was concerned-- she was not.

My mother and I both have the same thing as Dilly. On one elbow only. I've had it off and on for years.
For awhile now I've thought it was a viral/wart thing because as a child I had a patch of warts on that elbow. I also had lyme then too. Sometimes I get bumps on that side of my arm just below the rough patch but I don't know what they are.
Years ago a doctor took a punch biopsy of that elbow. The pathologist couldn't figure out what it was. I do think it is related to my ill health.
Who knows whether it is an opportunisitic infection or part of lyme. I do know that the roughness appears when my immune system is not working as well as usual. Seems to me like it is an infection of some kind but I could be wrong.

Melanie - if you have any castor oil around, give that a try. Can't guarantee it will work for you but it does help mine.

I have this symptom exactly. I have had it for years. It has improved with supplementing with Vitamin D - that appeared to be the only thing that would help it.

About 3 yrs ago, I woke up with wierd sensations on both my elbows. I looked at both of them in a mirror.
There was a bullseye around each elbow. I couldn't believe it. Hmm....just now wondering if yours could be a version of this.
I have also noticed bumps there that come and go. Sometimes I get dry patches there and some sharp pain. With tx it seems to subside.
Have you tried rubbing some coconut oil on the site? Hope it subsides for you., Gael

Melanie, For the last couple months, I've had a slight problem with my left elbow.
It would sting a bit, I would scratch it, and then it would peel a little.
That elbow is red, the right side is normal.
If I figure anything out, I'll let you know.

Thanks everyone for adding your thoughtful replies.
This is really not like peeling skin from a burn at all, but more like a scraped knee like hitting the ground on the run.
Very interesting that so many of us have something similar...and on only one elbow too.

Try Pacquin Hand cream - It comes in a jar with a Red top - cost a little more but worth it
Its kind of hard to find but maybe Walmart or walgreens carries it-
This is the Only skin cream that works for me-others dont do squat - Jay -
Ps I grew up in the middle of the desert I never saw sweat on cold glass till I moved to Austin --for weeks I thought all the glasses I used had cracks in them and were leaking --LOL --

Strange - since childhood (when I was 1st infected) I had "growths" on both of my elbows that I just assumed were scar tissue from frequent childhoop scrapes etc
Well, in the course of Lyme treatment both elbows are as smooth as can be - I believe my "scars" were actually cysts!

In the last year I've also experienced the scraped elbow (s). After more than 8 yrs of many other odd sx this one came out of nowhere.
It was cycling also which told me that it was some type of bacteria? I also developed tiny hard bumps on the elbows.
I tried different creams, essential oils etc. Nothing touched it until I started taking levaquin to address my many intestinal issues.
Guess what, the elbows cleared up also. My Internists wasn't surprised that all my outer skin eruptions was related to my gut. He said that some gut bacteria show themselves eventually through the skin. I had skin eruptions happening elsewhere besides elbows.
IMO, it's the bartonella bacteria. I'm back on levaquin for 30 days. I'm very cautious with this abx, due to the muscle tendon issues reported.
30 days on and 60 days off has helped with some bart sx. I hope it continues.

I looked like I have a scraped elbow for a very long time now too! Left one only also as some others. It doesn't bother me other than looking like I hurt myself so I ignore it.

Hubby has this, too. He went to the dermatologist because of some big sticky placques on his scalp. She looked at this head and then said: "Show me your elbows!". When she saw them she said: "You have psoriasis!".
My friend had this, too on her elbows (Psoriasis is running in her family - her brother was a bad case). Her elbows cleared up completely after she went on the SCD diet.
