Hi,

I am the sole bread winner for our family that has been devastated by lyme. Both children and wife with positive babesia and positive lyme. We are 80k in debt moving into a one bedroom and trying to keep our heads above water. My wife and children are still on a long road to recovery.

I had no symptoms but was curious about my antibodies. My Igenex test was positive. Does anyone think would I bother opening that can of worms treating lyme or should I just take care of myself and keep my immune system up and only treat conventionally if I get sick.

I am worried if I compromise my immune system with abx, that I may let out a can of worms that would be better out at a later date. My immune system is really excellent now. And if I take care of myself I feel normal.

Please advise

I wanted to show you this because your wife should be getting disability that would help you guys out. The same might hold true for your children.

http://www.lyme.org/legislative/publaw107116.html

This basically states that social security personnel aren't familiar with lyme disease and if you show them a copy of this law and put it in your application you should get approved.

This site runs through everything you'd need to know but it's a lot to read. But there is a link on there to advocates in each state that are more familiar with this stuff that can help out.

As far as treating it right now I'm not really sure what would happen if you did. I'd see what some other people on here say. Maybe try herbal stuff. I can tell you that you shouldn't get any vaccines including the flu shot. Because I was in your situation and just didn't know it. Then I got the flu shot and nearly died.

I'll answer but I am far from being as knowledgeable as many here.

I am in a similar situation except I have a few minor symptoms of Lyme. It is my daughter who is disabled from it. I probably wouldn't have even considered Lyme causing my symptoms if it weren't for her. I am concerned about treating myself for Lyme and making things worse.

I'm seeing an LLMD to evaluate. My understanding from him is that you can have a positive test but if you don't have symptoms, either you don't have it or it is in remission and they wouldn't treat. Or you can have a negative test and some symptoms and still have it. He suggested I not even do the test at first because it could be inaccurate either way and it is diagnosed by symptoms. I am doing an antibiotic challenge where if I herx, we will conclude that I do have Lyme.

If you truly have no symptoms, I personally don't think I would risk treating it. I would watch for symptoms, though and be ready to treat at the first sign of trouble.

What does your wife's LLMD say about this?

If you're doing well, I'd leave it alone for now. Take good care of yourself and eat healthy. Perhaps you could treat herbally or use a Rife machine.

The Rife machine could be used by everyone in your family, so that would be a big plus...and save you money too.

What exactly did your test results....depending on what the results looked like, the advice may be different

Typically LLMD's treat until you're symptom-free for two months .... so if you're already symptom-free there would be no point in treating.

I'd look into supps like Host Defense by New Chapter and/or Tranfer Factor. They are designed to keep the immune system strong.

I would also look over a list of symptoms to see if you are really symptom-free. If you have some symptoms, then I'd consider treating .... maybe with herbs, but treating nonetheless.
