So I have a question I was reading through posts

and read where someone was questioning there

diagnosis and someone named Tamika said anyone

with a dx of lyme should have a bunch of tests

done.I had all those tests done and the

antibodies were in my system not showing active

infections but there were antibodies for almost

all those tests Tamika stated to be done, seeing

that I have antibodies for those could it of

possibly gave me a false positive on my western

blot. I myself dont think so but am so new to

all this so i really dont know lol.

I posted this in response to your question at this other current link.

---

It's not so much that other tests will give a false positive for a borrelia western blot, as OTHER INFECTIONS are often also a consideration in your diagnosis and symptoms.

Knowing, as much as possible, all the coinfections to consider/treat will help in the treatment for lyme.

Still, a LLMD should know best how to proceed. We cannot possibly figure this out but, hopefully, help can come from a doctor who has seen hundreds, or thousands of patients with similar presentations.

Some doctors see test results that say "past infection" or "no active infection" but others see that may really mean "chronic, persistent" infection.

You need a doctor who really knows how to correctly distinguish the test results, considering your symptoms and the current research. You need a doctor who can prioritize - and find treatments that may be double-hitters to cover several things at once, if possible.

And, after that little speech, I can only assume you might feel very disheartened.

Having had all those tests, you must have had a pretty good doctor as most doctors have never even heard of those tests.

Do you still have a good doctor ?

I would assume you don't or you would not be asking these questions - a good doctor would have answered your questions.

My Lyme doctor counts these virus' as co-infections.

In his opinion, they don't cause the Lyme.

They are the result of a weakened immune system due to Lyme.

I did 8 months of valcyte for these.

Still treating for Lyme, bartonella and babesia.

BTW, I only had one Lyme specific band positive (Quest).

It is slow going but I am getting there.

Hugs,

Geneal
