Ummmm.... I was just sitting here watching TV and all of a sudden I got really really warm... it felt like I was sitting out in the sun on a very hot day... and then I noticed I got very, very sweaty. My back was full of sweat, my chest was dripping sweat, my legs and arms are soaked and my face is wet as well. My hands are also now trembling.

Anyone else have this happen? I'm thinking maybe it's Babesia, anyone know?

I am on Mino and Bactrim. Just started the Bactrim a few days ago. Though I have been on Bactrim in the past, so it's not a totally new med for me.

hmmmm... sounds like babs to me.

Did you have a fever that may have been causing the sweats?

Not at the time that it happened. I had a low grade fever earlier today, but that was much earlier. This came on really fast and then went away just as fast.

That is my main symptom, sweats and fatigue. Sweats are just like you describe. I've been prescribed meds for babesia but havent started them. Was on Doxy for a long time. Sometimes the sweats slow down for a couple of days and then I don't want to take that crap he prescribed. (I've been taking Cat's Claw and it helps) But, ultimately, I'm going to have to start the protocal.

That could be a symptom of Babesia. Good luck! [group hug]

This has happened to me a few times and I just tested postive for babesia.

The sweats come on very quickly and in the most random times. It usually makes me feel a little lightheaded too.

Could be Babesia. With hubby he is sometimes dizzy as well, and almost always nauseated. When it gets really bad then he has liver side pain also and either dry heaves or vomits depending on when he last ate. And this usually triggers tremors and myoclonus as well.

Not fun. Have an appointment with LLMD next Monday -- can't decide if Babs treatment is working really well or if it is totally failing.

As I sit here pouring buckets of sweat... been doing it for the past two days... I know what you mean. I can literally wipe my neck and have a small puddle of water in my hand after doing so.

I also have the "turn slightly and feel like I'm falling sideways" blues too... like a bit dizzy or light-headed. This is fun along with the "walk like a duck and bump into walls" balance I display.

And I've got the, "my eyes haven't seen the glory" blues too. Blurry vision and a low down dumpy feeling all over.

Neck spasms, tightness in my head, pain in my jaws, etc.

My calf muscles are cramping so hard on and off that they pinch the blood vessels... and my calves are now bruised.

SOME DAY I will treat the babesiosis again... but not until they determine it can be cured with large servings of chocolate cake and ice cream.

Yes, that is what I am waiting for.

[Big Grin]

BTW- It stops after a few days.. till the next episode.

TC,

Are you taking magnesium? It really stops my muscle cramping.

Hi! [hi]

Did your doctor put you on mino and bactrim because he thinks you have babesia? Just wondering what you guys are "trying" to treat.

I have also heard that Bartonella can cause sweats, but I think they said late morning or afternoon. And then babesia I always envisioned at night, so you are sort of between those! I got this info on the questionnaire about bart vs. babs that Fuzzy posted awhile back.

But they say the Bart sweats are "sticky" and the babs sweats are more "dreanching."

DON'T make you decision just based on that though..........that was more just FYI. Sounds like most people are attributing it to babesia. I thought I should bring up the Bartonella possibility though.

I have just recently gotten the trembling hands, and it is scary. I hate it! I am currently treating babesia with Mepron, but have been having Bart symptoms flaring too, so I don't know which disease it could be.

Either way, you know what you are takign is killing something, so that is very good news! My advice would be to just keep taking it! Hang in there! [Smile]

Hang in there, TC! Those woes sound very woeful.

I think you may have just begun composing the Lyme Spangled Banner. What would our flag look like?

Hugs. [kiss]

Hoos - I am Bart positive, but have all the symptoms for Babesia too. And I DO sweat at night, off and on too.

Like last night, it was profuse sweating. But I have also had sweats at night that were just damp and not much, so maybe that's Bart...maybe some nights I sweat from Babs and some nights from Bart....? [bonk] Who knows, this disease is crazy... can't usually pinpoint any one symptom to the lyme or co's because usually lyme can have a symptom that's Bart, and vice versa

"Are you taking magnesium? It really stops my muscle cramping."

Thanks for thinking about me and asking. And no... I don't take it. Actually, I can't.

For some stupid unknown reason... I can't take magnesium. It makes the muscle and cramping problems worse by a long mile.

My body is opposite for whatever reason... and I need calcium instead to relax the muscles?? I've always needed a LOT of calcium to prevent muscle cramping.. even before Lyme.

Over the years I've kept trying to take mag.. but always had the same problems... no matter what kind and how much.

In fact I recently got some coral calcium which USUALLY works wonders for me. I was unable to get the brand that always worked because the store closed.. so I had to buy another brand.

The front of the bottle said only... "Coral Calcium".

I started taking it and the for some reason over the next couple of days the problems got worse... then much worse.

I thought, huh???

While filling my pill boxes the other day.. I happened to notice the back of the bottle. The first ingredient listed was magnesium!!!!

With my eye sight being rather poor... I can't see the small print... and usually a bottle will say on the front what is in it. This one didn't.

So it all makes sense now. I was taking a lot of magnesium that they had added to the mix.

I am still trying to "undo" the damage.

My point...

Each of us are different... but most do benefit from magnesium like Luvs said. I rarely see folks who do the opposite like I do.. but I have seen several over the years with this problem.

This was a BIG reminder to me to READ the labels.. and/or ask someone if you can't see them BEFORE you buy the product.

On the plus side.. the local dairy farmers should like me. I've about drown myself in dairy products lately. I kept thinking I need more calcium, I need more calcium... and I did because I didn't know I was taking the magnesium.

Thanks Luvs for the suggestion!

I think the causes of sweating can be multiple. In addition to the ones already listed, probably hormonal imbalances can be involved. Don't know anything about "adrenal fatigue," but somebody needs to study this in connection with TBDs.

Bart caused my a lot of my burning and sweating sensations. It wasn't until I was on levaquin that my fevers finally broke.

I had the swift heating up and cooling down thing, sometimes with sweats but usually not. My LLMD said it's a Babs symptom.

So, now on Mepron, I have drenching sweats! Often at night. Didn't have them before.....

Pass me that yellow fingerpaint, please!

Best,

Cass A

PS--If you're sweatting, try to keep up your salt/potassium and other electrolytes--not having them can cause lots of fatigue, apathy, irritability, and even potentially fatal heat prostration (body can't control its temperature if it is too deficient in electrolytes)

PPS--Many psychiatric drugs compromise the body's ability to control its own temperature. This is one reason people being treated for "mental illness" often die suddenly during summer heat waves.
