We need your help to encourage healthcare professionals to attend the annual scientific/medical Lyme conferences in San Francisco in October. This is the first year the conferences will be on the west coast and outreach is critical.
Please make sure your LLMD or any other interested healthcare professional has this information right away. One good way to approach it is to download the CALDA grant application from the CALDA website http://www.lymedisease.org/calda/educational_grants.html and email it, fax it, or USPS mail it to healthcare providers along with copies of the LDA and ILADS conference fliers.
Consider creating a fax list on your computer of local healthcare providers and clinics. Look them up in your yellow pages, call and ask for their fax numbers. Once you have created such a list, you can use it any time to fax Lyme information to them and raise awareness locally.
Call your local medical society or hospital medical education department to see if they will distribute this information and then send it to them.
GRANTS CALDA will reimburse up to $800.00 out-of-pocket expenses for any actively practicing MD, DO, ND, NP or PA in any state to attend the LDA and ILADS annual conferences.
CALDA grants are limited and are only available to qualifying professionals attending the conferences for the first time. Preference will be given to persons currently engaged in treating tick-borne infections and who plan to attend both conferences.
CALDA Lyme Action Workshop for activists, support group leaders, patient advocates, friends and family who wish to become more effective advocates for the rights of people with Lyme and other tick-borne diseases.

Please remember that the ILADS and LDA conferences are separate back to back conferences. They require separate registration see www.ILADS.org and www.LymeDiseaseAssociation.org
The history of the conferences joining are that LDA/Columbia conference (Fri.) supplies much of the hard science behind the diseases while ILADS (Sat-Sun) provides much of the clinical. Together they provide a comprehensive overview of Lyme and other tick-borne diseases. Each supplies CME. Each has an early registration deadline coming up soon, ILADS just extended its deadline a week according to Barb Buchman and LDA's early deadline is 9/16.
