Just wondering how many parents have decided to skip immunizations while their child is dealing with Lyme & Co-infections?

TIA for any replies

I wouldn't give a healthy kid an unnecessary shot!

www.909shot.com is a good resource.

You can specifically request some vaccines that are mercury free (timerisol-free - not sure of sp.) however, I'd want to see the label and be sure that is indeed what would be used - and also have done all the homework about all the other ingredients.

Some autism support groups may have suggestions for safe vaccines. Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey are pushing safe vaccines. I don't know what group they are connected with, but google should give you a start.

My daughter is in need of a DPT booster, but I have been told by our LLMD not to give it to her until she is better.

Our pedi (NOT an LLMD) opted to not give immunizations this year, as she didn't want to risk it with a chid who still has an active lyme infection.

Hope that helps.

I think you need to be REALLY careful. Even to the poster who was saying you are waiting until your child is better.

I had been really ill with Lyme and coinfections, gotten some good treatment from an LLMD and made a decent amount of progress (still not well though), and then I got a DPT vaccine and BAM! I relapsed wayyyyy backwards. I STILL haven't recovered from it, in my opinion, and this was 1 1/2 years ago.

What I went through was horrific. I wish I could undo getting that shot. I don't think it was the mercury; I believe it was just that my immune system could not handle the complexities of a vaccine. When I would try to stand up, my body felt like it had stacks of bricks in it. All my symptoms came out again in full force.

A natural doctor told me that it was either the pertussis or diptheria component of the shot that seems to be the "bad" one, so if you are REALLY worried about tetanus, perhaps you could just get a tetanus shot for your child but not the DPT. I still would not recommend that though. Tetanus is treatable if you realize you have it.

If your child starts to feel better, I would still give the immune system a couple years before throwing any vaccinations at it (it being the immune system). After what I went through, I am not even sure if I have children if I will allow them to be vaccinated. What I went through was too much of a nightmare for me to wish it on a child.

Hoosiers51,
I got a DT shot and within 10 months I was pretty sick again, that's interesting! I only got it as I'd gotten a nasty cut with stitches, ect and had fallen at a restaurant (was a waitress in college). I never knew if that was what did me in or not, I thought maybe not since I was pretty well for several months after.

I do not vaccinate my kids, only because I know too many people who have had problems with their children afterward. Especially if they had Lyme I would be wary. I believe every parent should be informed and have their own choice.

As an RN who worked in a NICU, I had parents ask me about vaccinations and what I thought! I always feared I would get fired, but it never happened.

I'm so sorry you became so sick! I haven't gotten another vaccination since and will not!

Take care,
Ocean

We skip all shots... not because of Lyme, they have not been tested yet.
Because I don't trust my government and I know of way too many vaccine injured children. I believe my son was injured by a vaccine in infancy.

Hi,

I would not give my kids any vaccinations.
My oldest son has Lyme and is being treated.

Dr J says that all kids should of had genetic testing done before ever having shots.

Read the book Evidence of Harm it will open anyone's eyes to the gov't cover-ups that went on with the vaccinations and autism and other learning dissabilties.

In my opinion our kids have enough to deal with just managing the lyme let alone the burden of a vaccine and all the additives and junk it them too.

Oh yea,

By the way I did vaccinate both my boys until the oldest had a horrible reaction to one.

So we do not vaccinate either one any more.
In my state Ohio we have philosophical exemption, which is a form that you can ask for and that is that.
All states have Religious or Medical exemption forms but that may be hard to get a clergy or medical personal to sign that.

If all else fails go to the vaccine hot line on line and look up the stat rates on how much of the population has to be vaccinated in order for your child not to be.
Such as if the school records show that the population of that school is more than 82% I believe it is (look it up to make sure what is law in your state) then your child does not have to be.

Hope that helps.
