I'm so frustrated. I am on day 3 of Zith/Mepron and I havent had any herxes. I've had a positive Babs test but I'm starting to wonder if it was a false positive or if babs is even my problem.

I'm sorry about being a pain in the butt guys but this is really worrying me. I have tried seaching to see when people usually herx and some say right away and some say after a few weeks.

The only thing that I have noticed in the first two nights that I get sleepier at a much earlier time and when I sleep I wake up in the middle of the night and it takes me awhile to go back to sleep and also I get hot when I am under even a sheet so I have to stick my feet out of the covers but I have no sweats and never really had.

I cant tell if this is a Zith/Mep side effect or a herx. I've been bugging out just doubting the Babesia and Lyme and looking up CFS info online again since thats what I was diagnosed with a few months ago based on my very high EBV titers and my symptoms. I really hope that I dont have CFS but who really knows.

I dont have tender points or any muscle pain or arthritis, which is what is usually found in FM or Lyme. What I have is more muscle aches and soreness after exertion which sounds alot like CFS. I have like 95% of the CFS symptoms and other than the Negative Igenex WB but several IND and + bands and a positive Igenex Babesia M test I dont have much else to reassure me that Lyme and Co's is what is causing my Chronic Fatique like symptoms.

Again I dont want to be a pain or a bother but I'm really going crazy over here and am looking for your advice and/or suggestions.

Hang in there Mike. Not everyone gets typical herx reactions. Plus many have related how babs treatment can take months to make a dent.

I know that I don't herx in a big way. I just seem to get more tired.

You had very high titers so trust that test and give it a shot [Smile]

Hey Frustrated...

You said... "I'm so frustrated. I am on day 3 of Zith/Mepron and I havent had any herxes. I've had a positive Babs test but I'm starting to wonder if it was a false positive or if babs is even my problem."

My best advise is...

Hang on to your hat with both hands.

Any minute now it could be blown off your head and you'll come to regret those words that flow so easily on day three.

I'm ribbing you here.. in case you don't know. ~smile~

But really....

Many people with Babesiosis herxes aren't affected until day 4 for some reason. Not always... but often enough to see a pattern.

Sooooooooo...

How about coming back here Saturday night and letting us know how you feel then? My hope is you will be fine.. but if not...

I'll pass you the salt and pepper cause you will have to eat those words.

BTW- If it makes you feel better... I've never known anyone to have a positive Babesiosis test who didn't have it.

And... if you don't have a herx right away.... wait till week 3 and 1/2 to four. Some folks it hits around that time too.

Good luck!!!

I didn't notice much of a Herx this time on Mepron until week 3. Some people might not even Herx....some people slowly feel better.

I wouldn't worry too much.

Also, sometimes with my babesia I feel hot at night, but don't sweat.

Eat lots of fat with each dose, and don't take CoQ10, Alpha Lipoic Acid, or Vit. E

Did you ever read this:

http://www.canlyme.com/fibrocfslyme.html

This doctor, researcher, bacteriologist, infectious disease specialist says that chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, and lyme should be lumped together as one illness since they are medically indistinguishable.

Whichever "one" you have, you need to get treated with antibiotics as for lyme. So, you are on the right track. Congratulations. And, stay the course. In time you will have your proof--your health!

Hey Hoosier...

You said... "Eat lots of fat with each dose, and don't take CoQ10, Alpha Lipoic Acid, or Vit. E"

I know about the CoQ-10, etc... but can you explain why no Vitamin E with Mepron? I've not heard about that... and may have a problem... as I am on Vitamin E for thinning my blood.. and I am suppose to be on Mepron.

So any head's up on that would be appreciated.

Tanks berry mush!

Thanks Tincup I'm not as bad as I was yesterday. My emotions are all over the place so sometimes I cant help but feel hopeless. This CFS Dx has me worrying so much. Its good to know that Babesia is part of my problem but I just wish that I knew what the root cause(s) of my chronic health were and if Lyme was my problem or not.

Tincup,

Vitamin E is a no-no because it is a fat-soluble vitamin. Thus, it is bad for the same reasons as Alpha Lipoic Acid and CoQ10. I just double checked in Kenneth Singleton's book "The Lyme Disease Solution."

If you have to take it, I would say space it out so it is a couple hours before (or more to be safe) or three hours (or more) after each Mepron dose.

Definitely don't take them at the same time.

Good luck with the Mepron! I am on it too.....
