I am looking for imput from any parent who's child has been treated by Dr. B-F in NY. Want to take my 7 year old to this LLMD for related symptoms and suspicious Igenex lab work.

I took my daughter to the CU Lyme Center to see Dr. BF, she went through 2 days worth of testing, had a SPECT scan, and some other diagnostic tests.
First of all, Dr. BF does not provide treatment--he is strictly a researcher. All labs were sent to Quest (even Lyme + Co-infections), and really the only benefits were the little tid-bits I jotted down during the consult. It was also very expensive.
The SPECT scan showed moderate-severe global hypoperfusion, which is a Lyme-specific finding (in light of positive Lyme tests), so I was glad we had the SPECT done, however I think I would have been better off just getting a SPECT scan scheduled-- not the entire appt. with Dr. F
If you want a few other recommendations for a great LLMD in NY, PM me. Me and my daughter both see an amazing LLMD 40 mins. out of NYC.
Take care, -Claire

I don't think that this doc will see children that young. I called him last year, and he was not willing to evaluate my son who was 5 at the time.
He recommended a colleague, who was VERY expensive.
I ended up having a neuropsychological eval done on my son with another doc, only to find that at his age, you couldn't definatively rule out behavioral symptoms as being the onset of other psychological issues (adhd, ocd, ect), and that he was also too young to have a baseline of functioning.
So the outcome was that the way he was functioning at that time could have been due to lyme, or it could have been something else. (pretty much all of it has cleared up with abx, though...)
Glad I didn't spend the big bucks to find that out.
As far as spect scans, I have not found anyone/place that does them on young children.
There are other docs that treat children around the NY area. It's just been my experience that having the eval done at too early of an age is pretty much a waste of money. (I'm assuming that was what you were looking at this doc for.)
Take care, kp
