Hi everyone. I found out recently that my lyme disease has returned. I went to a lyme doctor and he gave me doxy and amoxi and told me to take both of them. Well, I did a little research and discovered that these two medicines should not be taken together. I don't know if my lyme doctor realizes this or if he just doesn't think it's a problem to take both together. I don't feel comfortable taking both of them together until I see the doctor at my next appointment and ask him about this. Do any of you take both of these antibiotics together? Suppose I were to start on one of the antibiotics right now, which would you suggest I start on first, doxy or amoxi and why?

I started treatment with these two. I started with doxy, then after a week of that, added the amoxicillin.

I didn't have any problems.

Thanks for your response Chris. How long were you taking them together and how did you respond to the treatment?

I was being experimental and desperate without an LLMD- I took both at the same time, without knowing I shouldn't have until reading up after the fact. It didn't do anything to me.

To the three people who answered my question--thank you.

New question. For those of you who took Amoxi and Doxy together, did you get better from this treatment?

Thanks.

gwb,

...I'm so sorry I didn't respond back... [bonk]

At the time I was being treated for Lyme with doxy over the winter I also got a really wicked head cold...

It just wouldn't budge....
So my doc put me on amox for a short period in time...
..and yes it did help... [Big Grin]

I took both for a little over 2mo. I also was on a lot of different supplements.

I definitely had improvement in some areas... confusion, brain fog, and muscle twitching all improved tremendously.

Other things improved only somewhat or not at all.

I'm still far from "well", so that is why I am still treating, but yes I did definitely have improvement on the amox/doxy regimen. =)
