Hi All
Doctors are not just worthless in treating Lyme-
My Moms stomach has been hurting her for over 6 months--She kept going to the same doctor that she has for years -- Over and Over -
The doctor could find nothing wrong--
So my Dad took her to a new doctor - the doctor found out what is was in one visit-
Turns out my mom has cancer in her ovaries and it has spread now --
So remember dont put all of your marbles in just Any doctor -- Jay --

jay i am so very sorry. i know exactly how you feel.
i agree wholeheartedly. my mom suffered for years and they kept saying "oh she doesn't exercise, she's old, etc., ec."
how in the friggin world could they miss HEART FAILURE? any first year intern could diagnose that?
then she breaks her arm and gets mrsa in the hospital? they give her so many antibiotics she gets systemic yeast....then they don't know how to treat that, then oh on and on....
they killed her and i'll never believe anything different...
oh sure, she had lyme and it caused her problems....but they should have found them....

Boy, I am sure sorry about this. And I know how you feel because they missed my mother's lung cancer, even tho the spot showed on her lung xray and she had annual checkups.

I am very sorry to hear this too. Unfortunately, the U.S. health Care system and most phyysicians fall subject to one thing...greed and desparation to generate massive revenue to cover insurance. It's so sad.

Hi All
Thanks for All of the Kind words--
No reason for you all to feel bad tho- My Mom had a Long Great Happy Fun Life -
She Really lived the American Dream -
Both of my parents took Very Good care of them selves - ate Good -exercise - No Drinking ect -
It just makes me Mad that the doctor did not spend the time to figure out what was going on -
My Mom tells me the doctor apologized for missing it - but sometimes being sorry just dose not cover it--
Its sad that people get treated like this --
Remember - dont have all of your marbles in one pocket -
Take Care --Jay--

Sorry Jay- some cancers are treatable & have very good remission rates.
My mother had (I think) 4th stage Lymphoma & she's 85 now. She was diagnosed when she was 50. She also had colon cancer later on - probably a toxic reaction to the drugs...
They gave her radical chemo & she has a very strong will.
Mental outlook is very important with cancer!!! You really have to have the mind set to want to fight it.
There are also visualization CDs that are supposed to be very helpful for fighting cancer.
There can be a good prognosis for this. Try to find a doctor who knows what he/she is doing...
At first, they thought my mother's lymphoma was cat scratch fever... this was many years ago.

jay and to his very dear MOM,
my heart goes out to each of you learning this!
my own mom went thru 7 yrs. of going to the dr. each time this mysterious illness hit causing her to vomit 24 hrs. straight.
finally a small town dr. pursued this, and discovered a rare colon cancer, carcinoid symdrome tumor cancer, that had been growing for 7 years she'd been to the dr.
the main dr. sent her 1-2 dozen red roses for his oversight. we had her for almost 2 years longer; quality time making lasting memories.
is she going thru chemo/radiation or surgery?
jay, your entire family is in my prayers, and hopes for quality time left for her/you!

damn. and to think a simple ultrasound of her abdominal area would've diagnosed this pretty much right away. i'm really sorry jay. you're absolutely right about doctors, at least in this country. and i think it's even harder for women; they don't take us seriously at all.

Oh my gosh! So sorry to hear the news.
Sending prayers to your Mom and you.
I've always been leary of doctors.
Maybe because I have worked so closely with them in the hospitals.
The mistakes I've seen made.
I always believe a second opinion in regards to an issue that doesn't resolve
Is worth it's weight in gold.
Had I stopped with my Post Traumatic Stress Disorder,
I would never have discovered Lyme and/or co-infections.
I think I would have been gone by now.
Is your Mom considering treatment?
Sending Angels to your whole family.
Hugs,
Geneal

Sorry, Groovy. That's abhorrant.
A woman I've worked with went to three doctors because she was sure the pain in her abdomen wasn't normal. They all told her there was nothing wrong.
The fourth found ovarian cancer.
Miraculously, she survived and has been cancer free for the past ten years.
Not sure if it spread, I'm guessing not.
Life stinks, sometimes.

Jay- and the others who have had your loved ones misdiagnosed.
I am so sorry that you (and your loved ones) have had to deal with these maddening frustrations.
That IS a very important message Jay.
We need to listen to our instincts, when Drs. say they find nothing wrong or their Tx doesn't work and get another opinion, as many different perspectives as it takes to get the answers we need.
Doctors are human, even though we don't want them to be. NO human being could be completely infallible. We ALL make mistakes, even doctors.
We need to be own medical advocates and can not put all our faith in any one person's conclusions.
For those who have had cancer diagnoses, I think it might be good to look into Artemesia, Artemisinin, Artemesiae.
I read reference the use of Artemesiae in Dr. Zhang's book on Lyme. I also believe that Schaller has covered it in his book on Artemisinin, though I'm not sure to what extent.
I believe that it can induce apoptosis (cell death) of abnormal cells.
Thanks for the cautionary reminder and again I'm so sorry.
hugs & prayers,
Ali

I'm so sorry to hear this, but please remember - it's not a death sentence. There are ways she can jolt her immune system into attacking the cancer naturally. My cat is sitting at my feet right now, and maybe 8 years ago he was given only a couple of months to live. Thought is energy, so think positive thoughts <3
