Anyone else? This is a new one on me, but 1st my shoulder 3 weeks ago, now my lower back.

There was a definite crunch both times. My man-friend was there for the first and heard the crunch.

[confused]

Hi TuTu,

Thanks for the prompt reply.

No, it's a crunch. The shoulder felt like I'd pulled it out of socket with a crunch, and torn a ligament. Fortunately, it was a muscle pull.

The lower back was a definite crunch, and then pain. I've been applying heat and ice.

My joints were loose, but now they're going AWOL [Eek!]

I was in denial about my having joint issues, since I rarely had joint pain. Clearly I have joint issues.

I took some time off to clean the house, but need to get back to strength training and develop the muscles around the joints.

Best wishes,

Hi CBL. I absolutely know what you mean. My left shoulder has been HORRIBLE lately. I feel

like I could move it out of joint very easily...and the pain radiates down my arm. I

also get the same crunch, and loose feeling in my right hip. I hope it improves for you...and me!

Ouch. This is very painful. I usually have to have my out-of-joint joints put back in place by a knowledgeable chiropractor.

A couple reasons for this? One, that the muscles are too tight and are pulling on the joints. Another reason, that the joints themselves are weak, from being nutrition deprived or damaged by the disease.

So does anyone take any supplements that might be helpful? I have a friend who says taking manganese helps her joints and magnesium helps the muscles.

Hi Robin,

I think my going to the chiropractor would be an endless proposition. I have to find something more lasting.

I'm thinking careful weight training is the way to go, in order to strengthen the muscles around the joint, which hold the joints in place. And keeping one's weight down. I've gained 2 dress sizes since beginning anti-seizure meds. I prefer this than the seizures, but I do need to find a way to manage them.

Besides, I'm going to turn all the extra weight into muscle. Watch Out! [woohoo]

Hi HaveFaith,

I'm pleased to know that I'm not alone, but wish you weren't going through similar pain.

May we all be free from all suffering very soon.

Best wishes,
[group hug]

I've actually been going to Physical Therapy for this. My knee joints are VERY loose and easily moved.

He has me doing isometric exercises. In my case, squeezing the quad muscle (which connects to the knee), holding for 5 seconds, repeat. I do this maybe 10 times, and I do it throughout the day.

I go back in a week, so we'll see how it's helping!
