My neck. It feels so tight. The nerves, the skin, and the muscles. It feels like the muscles are about 6 inches too short. Then the stabbing dagger pains on top of that. No bone pain though.

Okay, I've been rx Zanaflex, Soma, Flexeril, Robaxin, you name it.

Why don't they relax my muscles????

It says on the bottle for "spasms" but I don't have spasms. The tightness is just there all of the time.

Benzos work, actually used to, I've become so tolerant, that I can't even say how much I have to take to get relief.

I know I have an LLMD now and I should be happy.

I haven't started any treatment yet, I start Flagyl a week before I start my IV Rochephin. I have a few things to set up before then, blood work, u/s of my gallbladder, etc.

It will probably be another 2 weeks before I start treatment, I'm guessing?

Does anyone know why muscle relaxers won't work? I'll bet Valium in a high enough dose would.

I just took a zanaflex and a soma to try and make dinner. Now I'm scared that I over did it. Who knows, this sucksssssss.

Sheesh, I don't know. Wish I did. I remember that relentless pain.

The thing that worked best for me as a muscle relaxant was craniosacral therapy. It kept me going for years until I got my diagnosis and treatment.

Eventually I learned how to do the CST muscle relaxion techniques on myself.

Wishing you some relief!

I remember that pain, too.

I have no great Rx med advice (am allergic to almost all pain meds), but I was a big, big fan of those "thermacare" neck pads, and there's a cream that helped a bit, I think it was called Bio-Freeze (?).

Have you talked to your LLMD about pain relief? That is something he may be able to help you address.

Hoping you find relief soon, too.

hang in there...

Nothing worked for me and I wasted my life going to allthese doctors and physical therapies.

I would be in bed screamign from neck hand pain ( tremors) and tightness and could not even breath , everything was tight.

The only thing that help was treatment with antibiotics and CHIROPRACTIC adjustment , detoxing and masaging...

Nothing could help for the tightness and the nerve pain...
Finally is gone .I could not even lift a bag and groceries for years...TODAY I caried everything myself after 5 years in MISERY!

You will get better just be kind to yourself and patient and detox as much as you can to help the toxins to get out.SAUNA is tremendous help for me!

I'm ALWAYS covered in Icy Hot. The Thermacare pads, the Bengay strips, Ice paks, Hot paks.

It's embarrassing. And they barely help.

Hello Nessa. I'm a long timer here, I am in my mid-40's, always considered myself an "active girl" outdoorsy, doing everything myself type person.

When I hit my early 40's, as I was doing some rather heavy yardwork, I turned a certain way to reach up and cut a tree branch, and POWEE!!! I did 'something' to my back.

I was in indescribable pain later that day. I was so amazed, I didn't know what "hit me".

I eventually was diagnosed with "back strain" injury, and my primary care DUCK, yes, they can be ducks even when it has nothing to do with lyme! prescribed a muscle relaxant called "Flexeril". Only he prescribed it at half the normal dose! I was prescribed Flexeril 5 mg, instead of the NORMAL starting dose of 10 mg.

I had no idea that he did this, because I thought, here was a regular primary care/family doctor, telling me that I had a back strain, needed a muscle relaxant, and here ya go, it's in a dose that I knew nothing about.

I took the Flexeril, by itself, for about a week, before I realized that it was DOING NOTHING for me.

I just recovered very slowly. Took about 2 months, I was mildly depressed, thinking, I'm getting old, how could I get so severely put in pain like this, from just REACHING UP AND TWISTING SLIGHTLY TO CUT A DAMN TREE BRANCH!???

I tell you this rather drawn out story to emphasize, that even regular docs can be stupid. I certainly count this idiot primary care doc as one of the top stupid docs in history!

I recovered, went on to do some other heavy lifting project (I think move furniture) and had another back strain injury. Took another 2 months to recover, this time I took NO FLEXERIL. Figuring, I tried taking it, it did NOTHING to help me.

I then went on to have a rather weird shoulder type injury (but similar, doing something I shouldn't be doing) and I went online, looking for info on pain relief, and here's where you need to consider what I found:::::

I found that I was taking the wrong dose (too low!) of Flexeril! I was supposed to be taking 10 mg, instead of 5 mg!!

And, this is most important::: you need to take a muscle relaxant with an anti-inflammatory, for it to even be effective enough for you to feel REAL RELIEF!

So, I took this advice for the next time I was in pain from something I did physically. I took Flexeril 10mg, with Aleve--usual dose of 2-3 tablets. I did this at the first hint of a strain injury, and on the first day of the injury.

Now, I can tell you it was like night and day! I found relief, and it only took 3 days before I could function in minimal pain. And the injury did not last fo 2-3 months as it did before!

I only tell you this so that you might consider trying it. Flexeril, plus Aleve. It's amazing, I'm not a doctor, and a doctor did not recommend doing this, it was someone else who I asked the question of, here on this board, I think, and his doctor told him to do that.

So, try it, it might work for you. Flexeril (or any muscle relaxant--I just have Flexeril on hand) plus Aleve.

Good luck!
Julie

Ive been taking ibuprofen almost every day. I dont like the idea of it, but it helps my pain.

I also added a stomach acid reducer to lessen the effect of the Advil on my stomach and intestinal layers.
