Just wondering this. I'm trying to think of a time when I had some symptoms right after a bite.

The only time I can think of was in 2003 and if anything, that doctor might have put me on 1 z-pak.

After that, I had b-12 shots for a year, that's it.

No symptoms, that I could tell since then, until my knees started swelling this January. Orthopedic doctor was all about surgery. Not me!

I contacted a family friend who is an orthopedic surgeon and he ran 6 different blood tests, and the lyme titer came back high.

Honestly, if it weren't for him, I still wouldn't know what is going on with my knees, or worse, had surgery on them to fix nothing. MRI showed nothing at all!

maybe my immune system has been fighting it off for a long time, hence the huge amount of +'s on my igenex WB.

Just trying to think of when I could have gotten bit.

Yes, this is not unusual. As long as your immune system can keep it in check, it stays dormant.

If your immune system is stressed or as we age and it stops working as well, the spirochetes come out and make us sick. As many as 5 can come out for each cyst. They can be dormant for a very long time - I think I read 10 years.

Glad you found out sooner rather than later. Now you need to find a good LLMD (lyme literate MD) if you haven't already. You will need to be tested for co-infections and get appropriate treatment for lyme and any co-infections.

Go to the seeking doctor section of this website and put your State in the subject line when asking for referrals.

Good luck, hope you feel better soon.
Terry
