Last night, a character called Kimmy - played by Lindsay Lohan, said she was tired lately and via research on the internet was 98% sure that she has lyme disease.

I wasn't thrilled at the way it was presented but at least it's getting out there.

Is this a recurring character? I haven't watched last night's show yet, but I will be sure to now.

If she is, maybe we can write to ABC and give them some accurate information to work with.

I don't think she is a recurring character in the past but she may have been on once before. She may be on again now that she is the fathers boss.

Sounded very much like what some people think about CFS and lyme patients. They are people who are unhappy with their life choices and depressed so they go on the internet and based on the fact that they are tired, they convince themselves that they have lyme disease or CFS.

I saw that too. All I thought was "join the club', but you are right, it was significant that it was mentioned at all.

Not being a "what's new on TV person" much at all...

And just skimming through the long line of post titles first thing in the morning...

I didn't know what you were talking about.

I got stuck on the words... "Ugly Betty".

I thought boy oh boy is TerryK gonna be in BIG trouble when OUR BettyG sees this post!!! YIKES!

NOW I got it... Ugly Betty is a TV show!

Whew.....

For a minute there I thought this post would be on fire when I opened it up! But looks like we are all safe.

[lol]

And yes.. amazing they let me have sharp knives and stuff.

I was turned off when I first heard about the show because of the name so I understand why you responded the way you did. I changed the title from Ugly Betty show to Ugly Betty TV show.

Not sure who you are talking about but Lindsay Lohan does not have a daughter and neither does the star of the show America Ferrera. From what I can tell neither of these actresses have been linked to lyme disease before.

I saw this tv show

in a way it was annoyingly presented (like an self "internet diagnosis" for general malaise etc)

but at the same time the writers must have thought Lyme is prevalent enough and causing enough concern that the general public would understand the reference,

so it that respect it was good, I think

I agree Lark - also, it would have been nice if the character wasn't so mean and despised.
