Seems like drugstores are looking for new customers.

Back in September Rite Aid was offering $30 gift cards for any new transferred scrip (from another drugstore chain).

We showed the coupon to our local Walgreens and they matched the offer -- they gave us a $30 gift card (one for me and one for hubby) and we didn't even have to move our prescriptions. Hubby is such a good customer they didn't want to lose him!

The new offer from Rite Aid is four $30 gift cards to transfer 4 prescriptions. This is for each person. Offer is good until November 30, 2008. Walgreens said they couldn't match that, but they did give us a coupon for $25 each to transfer one scrip each back to them.

There are a few restrictions on the Rite Aid offer -- the scrip does not even have to cost $30 to get the gift card. And it only has to be filled once at that store to get the card. NOT VALID IN NEW YORK and only for those over 60 years old in New Jersey. Can't use the card to pay for scrips, but can be used for most other things in the store -- not good for gift cards, alcohol, tobacco, stamps etc.

Neither Rite Aid or Walgreens offer this program to Medicare or Medicaid patients.

Walgreens offer seems to be available in all states. Pretty much the same restrictions as the Rite Aid offer. Also expires November 30, 2008.

I know the extra money will help with our budget in November and in several months to come.

(6 x $30) + (2 x 25) = $230 That is real money as far as I am concerned.
