Hi. I have been getting wierd hip pain that is different from the ache and bruise that I get from the shot.

I am just wondering if anyone has ever experienced this before, or if it is something to worry about.

Thanks,

Draba

I have been getting 2 bicillin shots a week for a few months. Now he has increased it to 3. Have had no problems whatsoever. My doc prescribed Emla cream, you rub it on 1 hr prior to your shot nad I rarely feel a thing.

I often get this weird radiating pain that goes up my lower back, like around the sciatic area. It just spreads, it is very strange. It doesn't last real long.

My last two shots have been given much more in the area of the hip, causing significant hip pain. It seems far more painful to get it closer to the hip then more in the center of the butt cheek.

The shots need to be given just below the hip bone in a muscle. Anyone tried the Enula cream. It is a script.

I like giving mine in the thigh.

OF course you have to know what your doing...if you inject it into a vein directly, your dead.

Ask your llmd...since I sit alot...I prefer the thigh.

My doc wants me to start Bicilin shots 2xday. Do you do these yourself or have a doc or nurse do them for you?

You really can't do these yourself, they are a "different" kind of shot and have to be given in the muscle over a period of about 1 min.

My neighbor is a retired RN and she gives them to me. Are you sure it's 2 a day?

Keltyl- My doc wrote 2x day but I think he meant 2x week! I don't see anyone doing these twice a day.

Geet- I haven't started them yet, but maybe it is a herx? I am getting weird hamstring/thigh pain too. My doc did say it is excellent for neuro symptoms but can produce a good herx!!

Thanks Mandy,

Interesting... Herx I didn't think of that haha. I'm doing 2 one in each cheek once a week but on the same day so its 2.4 million in one session once a week, is that what you were trying to say? Or are you saying your doing double that a day?

I would double check with your doctor I did cause there was confusion with this too, but if your syringes are 1.2 million each he may want 2 shots in one day once a week.

I'm not a doctor just going through the same thing you are, definitely double check with doctor.
