Hi Everyone.

For one year now I have been trying to determine what my son is experiencing wrto his eyes.

He's getting older and I have not asked for several months now. Tonight it bothered him. So, I asked. Refreshingly, I got the very same answer i was given a year ago before panic and confusion set in and I started hounding him for what that meant.

He said he had marbles in his eyes. The 6 year old answer which is much clearer than the five year old answer about what marbles means is this.

He said he does not see marbles. He feels the marbles under the lower eyelids where it is light pink. He pulls them down so I think they do not rub against his eyeballs and irritate them. He describes these balls like pieces of sand.

There it is. What the ^&(^&^*&^*&^ does it mean?

Something I still can't answer, but atleast can narrow down.

Anyone aware of this symptom please enlighten. It seems to be worse at times then others. I think hot compresses help, but not for a long duration.

Thanks Much,

2roads

this sounds like my hubby's GRAVES DISEASE of eyes from his OVERACTIVE THRYROID!

have you had his thyroid checked?

hubby has DRY eyes, and feels sand in them too, and when his eyes tear; HE MUST BLOT IT TRY or it stings like hell over and over.

just a thought! hubby has UNDIAGNOSED lyme and now advanced parkinson's disease with SEVERE hand tremors, non-stop rolling of his hands.

best wishes! [group hug] [kiss]

Thanks Bettyg. Doc J did test his thyroid backin the spring. All was normal.

My mom had Sjogrens, but I thing you get that when you're older.

I will reiterate the potential lyme/bart connection to doc J but he doesn't seem to think they correlate.

Carol, I have tried eye drops....all kinds. Jake hates them. He'd rather have hot compresses and baby shampoo to wipe the lids.

Maybe as he gets older he will tolerate it more.

I just want an answer. Funny Betty, but water or chlorinated water on his eyes at shower time or swimming is very upsetting to his eyes. I'm sorry about your husbands unwellness. Is he being treated for lyme and bart?

Thanks ...

Hi 2roads,
I see you live in PA. We are nearby in Malvern. Both of my 4 year old twin boys have lyme and we go to Dr. J as well. They both seem to have sensitive eyes.

When I mentioned to Dr. J last week that one of my sons often blinks slowly to clear his eyes, Dr. J didn't mention that others complained of that. However, when I asked about it on this site, others said that it was a symptom of theirs.

The best advice I can give you is to take your son to see Dr. Eric Singman in Lancaster. He is a neuro-opthamologist who is lyme literate. I have taken both of my boys to see him and he is wonderful. He knows what to look for with bart and lyme issues.

Wow betty,

Your husband sounds like mine.

The childrens therapies were all on my own doing with alot of resistance from him.

Thank heavens he had whole body Lyme rash and severe jaw painso he couldn't open his mouth.....good because food is vital and so was his silence.

Visible and total functional symptoms gave him a big kick in the &*(&(*&)*.

Hope your hubby comes around.

I suspect Bart may be a big problem for your husband and my son.

I'm tired of playing doctor. If the problem isn't going away there should be some licensed physician who can determine what and why and do something the &*(&(*&)(*)(*with it.

Ugh [rant]

Big huge back [group hug]

Anyone else have thoughts?????

Tickbattler,

Just sew your message when I posted.

I'm affraid I don't live in PA anymore. I moved to central Indiana [shake]

Lyme drove me out.

Doc J seems to separate eye from TBD's siting an Opthamologist for help. I have been to quite a few in Indiana, but none Lyme literate...as you can imagine out here.

If you can third party my symptom to your expert I would appreciate it. Again it's sandy lower eye lids resulting in them being pulled down. Water does seem to irritate more than the next guy. Otherwise the eye doctors (who don't know what to look for) say they look healthy.

I'd be curious to know what he thinks causes it and what to do. Maybe a hypothetical question, as doctors are so affraid to share anything outside of who they see. They can't understand that something is better than nothing when a script isn't attached.

If not, that's okay too.

You are correct about who I need to see. I will be visiting family around Phili this Christmas. Already have appt with doc J. I guess I could make an appt to see him. Is he booked out along time?

I suppose my son will enjoy the holidays and family from a doctors office. [Frown]

It's important though...I know.

Thanks,

2roads
