I had a rash on my forearm and both ankles, two different occasions, that looked like the classic RMSF rash, only 1000 times worse. There were spots on top of spots, and both rashes itched like a bugger.

Now I currently have what I'm going to call a goose-bump rash on the same forearm that was affected years ago, only this time it is not red and does not really itch. It looks like all of the follicles are raised.

Are either of these sounding like RMSF? Does the RMSF rash itch?

I may as well ask this question, too.

My daughter developed a bull's eye rash on her scalp recently, received maybe a month of doxy (she isn't listening to me), and of course, her Lyme test was negative and the rash remains, but her doctor says she is cured.

She is now going to go to a dermatologist (again, she isn't listening to me, but she doesn't want my "reputation" with doctors). I'm not surprised.

The question though involves her chinchilla - my daughter just took her chinchilla to the vet for crusty eyes, and the vet believes it to be sarcoptic mange. (His eyes are crusty from scratching). We are still waiting on the official results though.

Do these mites carry any tickborne infections? Could my daughter have contracted something through these mites? My daughter is losing hair, too, and she obviously has other Lyme symptoms, too.

I have heard that mites carry LD. Try to limit the amount of time that the chinchilla talks on a cell phone or uses the computer. EMF's can harm animals as well.

Don't allow chilla to borrow it. Does chilla have a vase of powder to take baths in?

<<<<< Blaze, and Angelica >>>>>, Hi there,

Surfing Lyme-net a bit before I try to sleep. I know this is serious, but thank you for making me giggle!!!

I get this mind-pic' of a furry little critter snuggled up between a 'Puter and a cell phone, chewing gum,and filing it's little claws.

It taps out notes and chitters into the cell phone!!! I hope you both have better days coming, that the daughter realizes whats up,and that she seeks proper help from an LLMD/ND!

TxC' and I have a friend that was bit by a horsefly and contracted Gullime-Berrete[sp.?] and Lyme last year.

There is/are so many bugs out that maybe could carry these illnesses and co-infectants?!!

Thanks again for making me laugh...I've been so down in the Mullygrub swamps lately.

Jus Silverwolf ,wishing better days for all of us!

Silverwolf get a chinchilla and it will make you laugh all the time.

My friend had one and its name was "Chilla". It was adorable and it did takes baths in a tall vase with some sort of ash or something in it. At night we would let it out and it would run around the house.

I know two people who think they got LD from horseflies. I think it does happen. I know I was badly bitten by sad fleas at one point. Who knows what they did to me. I got head lice while in Brazil too. Biting insects are scary.

<<<<< Angelica, and Blaze >>>>>,

A Chinchilla sounds like a sweet fun little animal. I have to wait until we find a better place to live,w/ a safe area for smaller animals.

My Dogs would decide a Chinchilla was a lunch snack... [Eek!] ... Well at least Sihayah doggy would [ she's Husky/Chow/Wolf mix]. Mua'dib would Bark growl and ruuunnn [he's half Miniature Pinscher, and Half Chinese Crested].

Both of them are having more skin issues than usual. So the mites/bugs etc. is of concern to us here as well.

I can bathe Mua'd'i[born 6'06] once in awhile,as he is only about 10 pounds. Sihayah[born 9'01] is almost 90 lbs,and I cannot lift her.

We are waiting on a bit of finances to come so she can get groomed/trimmed etc.,and we need to take them both to the vet again.

Sihayah was raised w/ cats, and doesn't mind them, actually likes to cuddle sometimes w/ a kitty. We don't have any cats at the moment, again waiting on a move..so we'll see what happens.

I don't know what the answer is as far as the vector born illnesses. TxC' got WestNile Virus awhile back, and hasn't gained any strenght back. He prolly has Lyme and Co. too.

Unfortunately we are having mice problems, right now as well. As we live in an old Trailer home rental,w/ lots of little holes for them to get in.

I don't think it's any safer for our critters here than us. We are hoping to find something a bit nicer in the spring,if we can work something out w/ the landlords.

They find the mouse problem a frustration as well,it seems epidemic in the area this year. They are trying to deal w/ everything and are not rich by any means.

Land lady had to have shoulder surgery this spring,so she cannot do as much as she'd wish.

I hope you find a nice new home with no mice. I love dogs that will cuddle with a cat.
