hey gang,

making my normal update. After 6 weeks i am damn confident of the clinical diagnosis. i am getting betterafter 2 years that is a fact.

What i am notcing is that most of gains are physical...10-15% gain in physical strength.

Not complaining but damn very little cogntive improvement. Really got to me at work because i was stammering. of course i was also day 4 of a herx.

i am taking Biaxin....just curious if the brain fog means Lyme is in my brain which Biaxin can't reach? or am i just being impatient.

Ps....i really am suprised at the gains i've made i hope i can hold on to them. My herx come almost every 4-5 days and last 4-5 days....nothing too severe ...like Parkinsons, can't sleep too well even with Xanax and very achy

Any thought on he brain fog...God is its annoying

Dave

I have been treating this stuff for over a year. The antibiotics haven't worked. Of course, they did manage to kill some of the good bacteria in my stomach but I'm hoping I can fix that. Antibiotics have been rendered useless by the indiscriminate use of the them by the meat industry. The book "Good Germs, Bad Germs" explains it all.

I had by biggest improvement with abx 6 weeks into treatment as well. All oral abx.

All of my improvement was physical too. The fatigue and muscle/joint pain improved greatly.

Likewise like you my cognitive symptoms continue to persist and feels as tho they are getting worse.

They say cognitive symptoms and brain fog are the last to go, so we have to be patient.

I've been told by my llmd that my bicillin does a little bit to cross the BBB but I'm not seeing anything in the brain department getting better.

Hang in there.

TS96,

thank you very much...right in line with me...fatigue is better and vertigo gone...now if i could only remember my co-workers name.

So what should i expect the next 2 months? sounds like much of the same. i heard Biaxin does not cross the BBB at all....i will see my LLMD in ten days. i will pose the question and let you know what she says.

I don't know what you'll expect in the next 2 months. Everyone is different.

I felt pretty steady for a couple months and now 9 mo. into treatment having periods of debilitating fatigue, weakness, muscle sorness and migrating pains here and there.

But not nearly as bad as it use to be.

Meanwhile brain not cooporating in the least.

Dave,

6 weeks is soo early in tx.

Now I know kids are different than grown ups, but like you our son's physical symptoms improved first, then it was a good six months or so before the behavioral sxs started to disapate.

At just over a year of tx, he has only two sx's, night sweats, and seizure activity in his right temporal lobe (no full blown seizures though). And as bad as that sounds, it's a million times better than where he was at a year ago.

For my hubby, he never had a lot of physical symptoms, I think because over the past 7 years, he has gotten bronchitis almost every year, and once or twice he had pnemonia, so he's been on abx a lot, prior to his lyme/bart dx.

But...during this same time frame, he developed a pretty explosive temper (lyme rage/bart rage), which I had never seen prior to us getting married.

That has, thankfully, improved with abx. He is also very tired at times still.

My point is, although the course of this illness is different for everyone, due to a lot of variables, one thing is consistant for all. It takes a long time for it to get all better.

Be patient, you will find over time that your symptoms will get better, come back not as bad, get better again, and eventually you will look back and see how far you have come.

Best of luck.
kp

Thanks KP...i was somehow hoping that becasue the brain fog only crept in 3 months before tx that maybe it would leave sooner.

I'm still at work but frankly i'm just not as effective.
