I tried to do a search but only found a few threads on this topic.

Anyone know if night terrors is common in children with lyme? Is it a co-infection...like Bartonella if so? Or just lyme itself?

Also do you know where I can get some information about this? Articles? Websites?

It's for a friend who suspects lyme in her son. He had a tick bite about a year ago. She never knew much about lyme until she started talking to me.

Her son was also diagnosed with autism recently. Not sure about other symptoms yet but trying to help her figure out if this is a big lyme symptom in children.

Thanks!

Yes!!! my three young children are all infected with lyme and coinfections. They all had terrible nightmares and night waking several times/night. They would also whine/cry in their sleep. I do not know which infection caused it since they have so many. They are much better now after two years of treatment but are still being treated. At least our house is quiet at night FINALLY.

They also used to have insomnia (jumping in crib for 2 hours in middle of night). My twin boys also displayed autistic-type symmptoms which are much improved with treatment. Now we are dealing with a few remaining attention and behavior issues and one still has OCD tics. But they are slowly getting better.

It is very possible that this child may not have autism at all if this developed after the tick bite. If the child's autistic-like symptoms are from lyme, treatment for lyme should eventually get rid of the "autism". Are you familiar with the lyme Induced Autsim Foundation? I would refer your friend to that website.

Hope this helps,

tickbattler

Yes, my 10 year old daughter as well. She sleeps with my wife now. Just agitated and hard to go to sleep.

I have them but am 45 and yes very common with me. Including other weird sleep things. Don't know why Because am so far barely treated due to no money.

Good luck with your kids. They are so luck they have you to help them through this. It is hard being alone in it.

Hugs,
Cat
