I took mepron and zith for 12 weeks. I felt really bad almost the entire time. Then I thought that I'd get some relief on my 2 week abx break but I was worse than ever. Now I've been on Plaquenil and Biaxin for a little over a week and things have simmered down a bit.
SO WHAT WAS THAT? Feeling worse than ever on the break? It couldn't be herxing. When I took the break after tetracycline and diflucan I felt a little relief.
I never know what's going on.

Sounds like the break gave it the opportunity to explode again. I often have that happen when I take a break. We are damned if we do and damned if we don't.

You took a break from antibiotics, and the bugs came out to play again. Very common.... Good to hear that you are back on treatment and responding!

Lyme comes back more slowly so a short break (3-5 days) from Lyme abx is ok especially at the beginning when herxing is bad.
Babs and Bart multiply rapidly and it's best not to stop tx.

With babs, I could not take more than 3 days off or I would start declining. Once I had to take an abx break for GI issues/testing. My LLMD said to start taking the babs meds as soon as symptoms started worsening. That ended up being by day three of the break.
As mentioned previously, Lyme takes longer to start getting worse.

Hunh. I test negative for babs (and bart). My llmd uses mepron as a cyst buster for lyme. Problem is Six, I did not have rapid decline on the last break. I guess the creeps just came out big time this go around.
BTW, have a said I hate this disease constellation?

I tested negative for babs and bart, too, but clearly responded to treatment for them. They do not test for every strain, you have to go by symptoms.
Plaquenil is anti-malarial, but has other functions, too, so is used for more than babs - like making the Biaxin work better and as a cyst buster.
And yeah, I hate it too. Glad to be done with it.
