I'm a month behind you in treatment. I was on oral ABX for a year, and now I'm on Samento and Cumanda. I was on mepron for Babesia for 5 months during the ABX treatment time.
My remaining symptoms are insomnia, and pain issues. I know I need to build up my immune system. My energy is getting better all the time, and this is the worst time of year for me, since SAD affects my health in the early winter.
I'll find out what my doctor wants to do in a month, but he already told me I might finish my treatment entirely with herbs.
After treatment, I'll be given which herbs to take for maintenance, to prevent relapses. (It might be what I'm on now, at a lower dose.)
My husband found a site with decent prices, (www.myherbs.net if you want to know), but there may be cheaper places out there. They have the NutraMedix brand, which is what my doctor specified.
Everyone is so different, nobody can predict what your doctor has in mind for your treatment. But you could tell him you're running out of money. My doctor listens to me, and responds respectfully--he knows I do my own research, and comply with his treatment, so there's a feeling of parnership between us.
If I call his office with a question and word it so it's easy to answer, he has his receptionist call back later with an answer, and I don't get charged for that. If there's too many issues, then I have to go in, or do a phone consult.
Sometimes, I give a message that tells him what I changed, and why, and I always tell him I'm willing to come in if needed, but if I don't hear back, I know it's OK. Most of the time, there's no answer, so I know I'm on the right track.
This has saved me appt. money, and I know he's really busy, so doesn't mind my doing that.

Not knowing your treatment/symptom history just taking a stab at this with a quick comment.
Sometimes lingering symtoms can be from untreated coinfections.
Or changes like detoxing, checking for toxins such as mold or heavy metals, boosting the immune system, adding excerise, etc. There are really good threads that address what to do if abx doesnt seem to be working after a long time.
Perhaps others will come along with those details, or you can do a search at the top of this page.
Can anyone else out there help with this? Good Luck.

I have not been tested for coinfections, however I have been on Rifampin since June and recently started adding ciproflaxacin to the Rifampin.
The Rifampin is supposed to target the Bart.
Prior to that I tried a combination for babesiosis, which was Biaxin, Clindamycin with Plaquenil.

Babesia can cause the ear ringing pretty badly and sometimes mepron just doesn't get it. I've been on mepron for almost a year (half of it at double dose) and I still have babesia. So more than likely you're not hitting the right infection.
There's always mycoplasma too.

I treated with antibiotics with no improvement. When I started treating for Babesia, I started seeing some improvement then. Have you treated for the co's?

I ended up on antibiotics for 6 years. I wish I had gotten off after 18 months-right about where you are.
Every time I tried to stop, all kinds of awful things happened. I finally had help getting off from an MD who explained I was having withdrawal from the anti-inflammatory effects of the abx.
The altrnatives people mention here have helped as much as abx, for me, at least since I hit a plateau of improvement around a year and a half.
