Taking Zhang's herbs and on day 8 my lower intestine has really been aching. I do not have an appendix, so it's not that.

I feel distended and generally yucky...the garlic is really strong (allicin).

Anyone else have words of wisdom on this?

Best,

wiserforit

I've done the protocol for few months at a time (I never would have stopped had funds permitted me to continue).

Are you are doing the full protocol? AI#1 and the Circ.P really help. CircP is the liver support part of this but milk thistle adds increased support.

Have you taken allicin with enough food - in the middle of a meal? I found that helped.

You can post a question on his forum or email him directly - or call and ask. Here are some of the things he suggested to me:

Ligustrium, Slippery Elm gruel or licorice helped me at times when my gut seemed to be getting a bit of a vacuum cleaner treatment. you can also cut way back until your gut feels better if you feel that's necessary. Maybe more water ?

You can also rotate allicin with the other protocol for a few days (but you probably don't have that on hand). I think you'd be okay to even stop for a day if you feel the need to slow down. You can call his office on Monday.

If you do stop for a day or so, if you have an olive leaf extract, that might serve for a hold-over.

Thank you, Keebler!

Where did you purchase the Ligustrium, Slippery Elm gruel, licorice and/or olive leaf extract?

Any particular brands that I should look for?

I will call Dr. Z tomorrow, but your advice sounds very thorough.

Yes, the herbs are very expensive... especially with no coverage via insurance. But then again, insurance doesn't seem to cover much these days.

Idealogically, I'd love to just be doing the herbs instead of the abx, but that isn't in the cards just yet.

Keebler, I am struck by how much we seem to have in common symptomatically with ear, guts and abx issues. Don't I know you? [Big Grin]

I send you the very best,

your doppelganger twin without the evil part [lol] ,
