This is an awful time for me also. I don't know anything that can make it better. I usually start feeling bad the week before and it last until a few days after.

Same with me. Bad, bad, bad when I PMS, through day 2. Some days I can't walk. Then it lets up. Exercise helps for me. So does ativan, but my major issue is anxiety. The pain is terrible, but I can stand it. The anxiety makes me unbearable.

I do the baths too.. on good and bad days. But the days of my period or so bad that I just have not found what might help enough to make a difference. The bath is nice but it do not get going and up as I might on another day and straight back to bed.. OUCH>

I used to have the absolute worst PMS and horrible cramps. I had to work my life around my cycle.
Since my Lyme diagnosis I have barely an issue with this anymore.
I think it's probably due to my better eating habits as well as my supplements. When I eat poorly I notice a difference. I think my calcium and magnesium help, too.
I do get some cramps and when I do I take Aleve - make sure you have something in your tummy and take two if cramps are bad.
I hope you can resolve this. I can't wait for menopause!

Same for me. One week prior and then 2 days in.
I just lay low. Curl up in a ball and wait it out. I also get 3 day migraines right before I start my period.
So far no migraine this month....should have one any day now.
I use heat and cold compresses. No pain med helps.

My body pain is 5 times its normal pain level. My toes and finger hurt really bad. I get migraines. I feel like I'm having a really bad herx.
I take Vicodin for the pain and Relpax for the migraines.

This year the issue of that time of the month has gotten so bad that I went for a full work up of all hormones etc thinking I was pre menapausal or something too.. But that was not what my tests showed at all.. Not even a trace of starting down that path even though i know sometimes tests do not indicate everything..

Yep, I flare too when it's that time of the month for me.
I've found that treatment for lyme/co's has helped a great deal though. Since starting Babesia treatment, I haven't had any cramps during that time, which is amazing because I usually have horrible cramping during that time and have to OD on Ibuprofen.
But I still get the flares around my period where I feel worse and heart palps and heart symptoms.

I also find my anxiety goes bonkers just before I get mine.
Sorry to be graphic, but I have also noticed that my discharge tends to be quite clotty and when I go to the loo it kind of just hangs there, nearly mucus like. I know that's gross, but its only ever since lyme. I just wanted to see if anyone else had this too??
I am taking various things like wobenzym, garlic, etc which are meant to have a blood thinning effect, but not down there!!
Sorry if I grossed anyone out!

I've had normal periods my whole life. About a year ago I went to my GYN to see if there was anything to help me. She said I have 3 options: nothing, have my ovaries removed or use birth control. I didn't want my ovaries removed and I can't take BCP because they give me an extreme headache.
I also tried Estradiol (bio-identical compounded hormone) and I got the extreme headache. This was prescribed by my LLMD. I have an appointment next week and I will discuss any other options with him.
I'm going to continue with Vicodin/Relpax protocol for now.

I may ask my doc.. I have a pain management doc and a Lyme doc .. i may ask them both what else they can give me. Maybe they can help....
I have some Soma.. I can try that.. i have alot of things that my docs have had me try for my FMS pain over the years but it does not help that much or at all so I just put the meds in a box and I try them when i am feeling desperate and want to just konk out for the night.> Sadly they do not work. I even have klonopin and ambien and lunesta and more.. and they all make me sleep walk. I really would like something to make me sleep. Even the Soma does that to me.. Its weird.

I logged on to talk about something else but I saw this thread and HAD to comment as I'm ready to start any day and it's horrible!!!!!!
Even way before I was finally dx I have most always mentioned to Dr.s that my sx seem to get much worse right before my period. I'm sure y'all can guess what they said-----------"Well it's because you are more 'stressed' during that time!" AAaarrrrhg!
I actually stopped producing Estrogen and Progestern, Ovarian failure at 38yrs. old, so I had no choice but to go on both hormones every day.
No---it doesn't help at all!!! My seizures, muscles spasms, twitching, horrible migrains, fatigue but insomnia? and usually bed-ridden until a few days after I start.
My Lyme Dr., Dr. J in S.C. actually asked and is considering stopping my periods for now hoping to have the least amt. of complications with treatment.
Has anyone noticed that when you ovulate that your sx also increase for a few days????? Just curious as mine seem too.
For me warm baths out of the question---can't breathe, become soooo weak feel like I'm going to pass out and can't get back out of the tub!
Exercise---I can walk to the kitchen and back (shuffling) on a good day. I've tried small amts. and put myself in bed for weeks.
Any other suggestions?????
Thanks

I have also learned that Lyme disease + that time of the month = hell on earth
I had a hormone panel done and found to be low in progesterone, which I think is common with a lot of women with chronic lyme so my doc has me on natural progesterone for now
But I think the thing that has helped the most is acupuncture - I've been getting acupuncture since Sept and my last cycle was almost pre-lyme "normal"! With the exception of 2 days of bad fatigue it wasn't a big deal at all!

Ovulation day is a nightmare for me, and it is usually on day 3 or 4. So I have a week before, the ovulation day and then at day 14 or so, I start all over again.
There is definitely an increase in symptoms (especially rage -- I've been diagnosed with PMDD), but I hope with treatment it will decrease.

All I can say is yep, yep, yep. Symptoms definitely get worse at that time of the month and during ovulation. My periods have always been irregular, so some months I get a reprieve because I won't have a period.

Very interesting posts.. Glad to hear as I might be able to sort things out a bit for myself.. or . maybe not.. Its a tough time but makes you really think about the hormones and the changes we go through in our cycles which would affect us so much each month
and so much more while sick.
it does make you really.. think about what is going on inside that would magnify and as well make us worse than normal,,
