i have had the same problems. both my shoulders are hurting. i started to see a good pt the other week and so far it has helped. whatever you do, avoid therabands/tubing for your pt- in the long run it can cause the weakened joint to bang around too much and can cause strain to rotator muscles.
a few months ago i started to increase exercise- light weights and swimming. it helped dramatically until i overdid it and strained my shoulder. hence now in pt.
apparently this kind of thing is common in lyme.
but sometimes when it hurts, for me, doing some of the mild exercises actually helps it feel better.
also, get traumeel for the shoulders, find it in health food stores.

Borrelia LOVES to hang out in tendons and ligaments. Because there is little blood circulation in these tissues, they hide from the immune system and antibiotics.
I've had shoulder problems for 15 years at least. 4 surgeries, including 2 shoulder replacements (1st one was botched). The surgeon noted during orthoscopic surgery that the tendon was very inflamed. I believe that tendon was riddled with spirochetes. Now that I have a diagnosis, I am able to put the pieces of the puzzle together.
Now I'm having trigger-finger in all my fingers. Trigger-finger is a tendon issue. I believe the spirochetes have infected all the tendons in my fingers. So far, 5 mos. of antibiotics has not relieved this symptom, altho I am hopeful that it will eventually resolve (it has for others on this forum).
-------------------- Sick since at least age 6, now 67. Decades of misdiagnosis. Numerous arthritic, neuro, psych, vision, cardiac symptoms. Been treating for 7 years, incl 8 mos on IV. Bart was missed so now treating that. Posts: 765 | From nw ct | Registered: Sep 2008

yes both shoulders i hurt the right one, then the left one started to hurt a week or 2 later. shoulder pain/"impingement" was my first symptom (after the meningitis). i *think* that taking a really hot sauna often can really help. ice packs for the pain are only good for pain but the bugs like the cold. so i imagine that they will flourish in a shoulder that is being iced a lot due to pain. both of my hips hurt, but then again i have bilateral hip injuries and need surgery as soon as i am done with the bugs. strengthening the shoulders could help-- BUT find a phys therapist that specializes in neuromuscular correction, and does not use the therabands like many pt's do.
if you want a reference to a place in northern nj i can zap you one- just pm me
